GLP-1'S ARE HERE!
Let's get stronger!
There has been a lot of conversation—and sometimes a lot of judgment—surrounding GLP-1-based medications used for diabetes and/or weight management, including Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro.
———————————————
At THE CLUB, we are not interested in judging anyone for using a GLP-1 medication.
Obesity is complicated. Weight loss is complicated. For some people, these medications have become an important tool for improving blood sugar, reducing excess weight, quieting constant food noise and helping them regain control of their health.
——————————————
There should be no shame in using a tool that you and your medical provider believe is appropriate for you. But a powerful tool still needs a good plan.
Weight loss can improve your health—
but the real goal is a lighter, stronger and more capable body.
THE GOAL ISN’T JUST TO BECOME SMALLER.
THE GOAL IS TO BECOME STRONGER.
When people lose weight—whether through medication, dieting, illness or another method—the body does not necessarily lose only fat. Some lean tissue may be lost as well.
This matters even more as we age. Muscle supports strength, balance, metabolism, blood-sugar regulation, bone health, independence and power in the golf swing.
A lower number on the scale is not a complete victory if you also become weaker, more fatigued and less capable.
Your muscles need a reason to stay—and that reason is resistance training.
A traditional scale can tell you that your body weighs less. It cannot tell you whether you lost fat, muscle or water.
That is why body-composition testing can be helpful. A DEXA scan, professional InBody assessment or quality home BIA scale can provide additional information—although home scales are best used to follow trends rather than as diagnostic measurements.
THE CLUB does not currently offer InBody or DEXA testing, but we can help you establish strength and function baselines, understand which measurements matter and use your results to guide your training.
The purpose is not to criticize your body.
It is to protect it.
