SCM Hockey Sauk Centre- Melrose (SCM) Youth Hockey Association is an affiliate of Prairie Centre Hockey.

Prairie Centre Hockey consists of a coop between the cities of Sauk Centre, Melrose, and Long Prairie.

“We'd love to try hockey, but we're already so busy. Is the time commitment too much?”

It's a fair question.

Hockey is a commitment, and we want to be honest about that. But at the youngest levels, practices are local in **Sauk Centre**, making it a great way for families to experience hockey before bigger travel commitments begin.

Families also contribute volunteer hours, with flexible opportunities available—and a buyout option for families who need it.

Like anything new, there is a commitment. But you don't have to figure out whether hockey fits your family before your child ever gets on the ice.

“Hockey is too expensive.”

We hear this one a lot—and we understand why.

Hockey has a reputation for being an expensive sport. But this year, getting started is different.

Thanks to a Minnesota Wild Foundation Skate It Forward grant, registration is FREE for Mighty Mites and Mites. SCMYHA is also providing much of the major protective equipment families need to get started.

Our goal is simple: give more local kids the opportunity to discover hockey without cost being the reason they never try.

If you've been curious about hockey but worried about the price, this is a great year to give it a shot.
