Pioneer Days in Albany kicked off today, and will run throughout the weekend. Be sure to check out The Cafe, where the Sartell FSC will be selling tacos in a bag and sloppy joes, cookies, chips, pop, water, and coffee.

We appreciate your support and hope you enjoy the Pioneer Days experience, too. The theme this year is John Deere!

Busy night for the club! We had coaches, board members and skaters at Pine Meadow Primary School for the activities night, while another crew got the cafe ready for Albany Pioneer Days this weekend. Come see us Thursday - Sunday!

As we near the beginning of another season we are going to bring back some skater spotlight posts - where we introduce our skaters!

Meet Magnolia Jepperson!

Maggie is 10 years old and going into 5th grade at Riverview Intermediate School. She has been figure skating for five years! Maggie’s favorite skating move is the back spin. When asked what she loves most about figure skating, Maggie said teaching different moves to her friends.

When not on the ice, Maggie enjoys basketball, art, music, especially playing the piano, and math.

Maggie, you are so incredibly kind and always happy and smiling. It is impossible to not be in a good mood when you’re around. Keep up the good work - we can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the new season!

Sartell Figure Skating Club is hosting a Skate & Swap!

What is that you ask?

Skate - skaters can participate in both on- and off-ice instruction led by our professional coaches. There will also be rapport building games and activities for all to participate in. A free parent education seminar will also be held. Parents are also welcome to join in the off-ice games and community building and join for the pizza party.

Swap - any skater/skating family from surrounding clubs are welcome to bring skates, dresses and other accessories to sell. Items should be marked with names and price. Drop off will be at 1:00, or arranged through SFSC. Must pick up unsold items at 6:00pm on 8/23.

We love to highlight all the different way skaters can skate beyond the local club opportunities. (though weekly ice time and annual show is plenty to brag about, too!)

This weekend we have a skater who is participating at the 𝙀𝒙𝙘𝒆𝙡 𝙉𝒂𝙩𝒊𝙤𝒏𝙖𝒍 𝑭𝙚𝒔𝙩𝒊𝙫𝒂𝙡 . This year it is hosted by The Skating Club of Boston (how cool!) The Excel National Festival is home to both the Excel Free Skate Final - skaters competing at Preliminary and up; skaters must qualify - and the Excel Free Skate Open - skaters competing at Aspire or pre-preliminary levels; skaters are eligible to participate after competing at the minimum number of required competitions.

To participate in these events, skaters need to register for the National Excel Series, and compete at competitions that are noted by US Figure Skating to be part of the series. For the upper-level skaters, they have to score high enough to earn their spot at the Final.

The commitment to meet these requirements is not for the faint of heart, and it is a pretty big deal to put yourself against the best skaters at your level.
