Not every struggle is visible 💜

Some of the hardest things we carry are the things we rarely talk about. The moments we push through, the emotions we keep to ourselves, and the ways we show up for others even when we’re struggling too.

Your experience matters. Your feelings matter. And you don’t have to minimize what you’ve been through just because someone else may not have seen it.

Today, take a moment to be proud of yourself for making it through the things you never had the words to explain. You deserve that recognition!

Why does yoga belong in occupational therapy? 🧘🏽‍♀️

Stress and trauma don't just live in the mind, they live in the body. Before a client can focus, connect, or fully participate in therapy, their nervous system has to feel safe. That's where yoga comes in, not as a workout, but as a tool for regulation.

Our founder Cheryl Albright, OTR/L, C-IAYT has presented a poster on this topic called “Integrating Yoga Into Occupational Therapy for Behavioral Health: A Holistic Approach.” It dives into the research, the methods used in real clinical practice, and what clients themselves reported. Such a great reminder of how much this work matters!

This gentle yoga practice is one of five classes individually designed for participants in a scleroderma case series.

Practiced on an inclined surface, such as a bed with the head elevated, a wedge pillow, or a stack of blankets, this class offers a gentle approach designed to support digestion and regulation.

One of the most encouraging takeaways? Participants reported continuing to use techniques from these classes in their daily lives, even five years later!

Our founder, Cheryl Albright, OTR/L, C-IAYT, joined the Wellness, Health & Everything Else podcast from NCHPAD, the nation's premier center dedicated to promoting health and wellness for all people through evidence-based programs, resources, campaigns, and strategic initiatives since 1999.

In the episode, Cheryl discusses her path from occupational therapy into accessible, trauma-informed yoga, shaped by her personal ties to the disability community. She shares how her approach prioritizes autonomy and adapts movement, breathing, and relaxation to each person's needs. She also talks about the benefits she's seen, from better sleep to calmer nervous systems, and her hopes for a more inclusive wellness industry.

Siblings need support too💜

Growing up with a brother or sister who has a disability is a unique and beautiful experience, but it can also come with challenges that are hard for kids to put into words. Many sibs learn to hide their feelings so they don’t add extra stress, leaving them to deal with their emotions in silence. Still, that struggle is only part of their story. Sibs often grow into some of the most patient, empathetic, and resilient people you’ll meet, with a bond to their sibling that is truly one of a kind.

That is where SibShops come in. We provide this program just for siblings! This special program allows for sibs to have a safe space to talk about their experiences with others who may understand what they are going through. They can build confidence, connect with peers, and find coping tools that work for them. We want every sib to have access to a space like this.

We do not have a SibShop scheduled right now, but we’ll be sharing the date as soon as one is planned. Keep an eye out for updates so you don’t miss it!
