I joined City Fitness as a Personal Trainer in 2016 after numerous years of training at the gym. I specialize in teaching clients proper techniques and tailoring exercises to clients needs based on their current health. More About Me:
In 2015 at the age of 52 I had my first competition and placed 3rd in Figure Over 40. In 2016 at the Tampa Bay Classic I placed 2nd in Master Figure over 50. I received my Black Belt in Martial Arts in 2012.

Training through pain is counter productive. Here’s a strategy I use to training around pain and not through it.. 💡angle changes… even as small as (3-5 degrees) These small tweaks can make a massive difference in how a lift feels, especially if a joint is cranky or beat up. Take the bench press for example: If bench pressing causes shoulder pain or discomfort, sliding a plate under the foot of the bench can create a tiny decline (just a few degrees) and shift joint angles enough to make the press smooth and pain-free. -> (You can also try the opposite and create a slight incline.) It’s subtle but powerful. And it’s a principle I use across movements: 👉 Small changes in setup. Big changes in comfort. 👉 Never train through pain. Train around it. This is how you stay in the game.. ..and actually enjoy training long term.
