New beginnings: Two Leatherback hatchlings about to embark on a journey of epic proportions as they enter the gentle surf in Juno Beach, FL in early summer. This species—my favorite ocean animal—is the largest sea turtle and the toughest to photograph. They’re always on the move and don’t particularly hang out in a specific habitat. Super tough. Manatees!! Did you see the scars on their backs? That’s most likely from boat propellers. 🚣‍♀️ Don’t worry, we know it’s illegal to touch them so we kept our distance. This was up in Crystal River and one of my favorite experiences we’ve had as a family. We didn’t pay for a tour, we just happened to run into them!!
