How can you equalize in a Full Face Mask where you cannot pinch your nostrils?

In the Guardian FFM, there is a V-shaped equalizing block that can be moved higher or lower on a wire form and can also be customized with thicker or thinner pads on top of the block.

The trick is to find a proper fit to your individual face where the block is low enough that you can breathe through your nose, but also close enough to your nostrils so that when equalizing is necessary, you can push inward and upward on the mask/regulator to seal off your nostrils and blow against the block.

It sounds vastly different than traditional scuba, which it is, but properly fitted is very comfortable and becomes second nature in no time.

Look over all parts of the mask to check if they are in functional condition and review proper mask donning and donning procedure. Also be sure to practice your emergency procedures until they become second nature.

The position of your wireless comm unit MATTERS.

Seen here, located at the 6 o'clock position of the dive tank is the preferred position, if mission allows. This allows the units transducer the most area surrounded by water and gives the unit the best possible chance to transmit the signal to another divers unit or surface station's transducer. DO NOT tuck the unit into your BCD or shroud the transducer of the unit, which can "body shadow" the signal and reduce range and signal clarity significantly.
