Sanford Recreation has been working a lot behind the scenes lately to bring in many new programs, revamping other programs, and listening to what the Sanford Community wants. Here is what is coming up this fall with Sanford Recreation. ❗LONG POST❗

🎒Teen Center is up and running! Sign-ups are still being accepted for September at a prorated fee of $10 a day, with the remaining of Sept paid upon sign up. We follow the Sanford School District Schedule. ❗UPDATE: Starting Thursday October 1st, we will be accepting PRIDE ELEMENTARY 4th Graders at the same rate. October is $200.

🏁🏎Sanford Recreation presents the very FIRST ever Sanford Power Wheels Race at Blouin Speedway (Blouin Parking lot)
2 year-olds - 8 year- old's come and show their speed by racing through the course. T-shirts for all registered participants, trophies for all winners in 1st, 2nd or 3rd in 4 classes.

Santa letters will be coming to Sanford this year. Your child can write a letter and they will receive one BACK just in time for the big guy to come. We will ask for specific information to include and will need a CLEAR RETURN ADDRESS. 2 Drop off locations available.

School starts next Monday. Do you have plans for your 5th-8th grader who doesn't want to be home by themselves? Or isn't involved in sports but still wants outside the home interaction? Why not give Sanford Recreations NEW TEEN CENTER a try! We operate right out the Memorial Gym and the kiddos can walk right from Sanford Middle School. We also accept home schoolers as well.

$10 a day payable monthly, following the Sanford School Districts calendar. September is $210.

Sanford Recreation Dept has a LIMITED number of discounted tickets left for 3 Southern Maine attractions. Stop in to our offices at Memorial Gym (Door #6) or give us a call at 324-9130. Cash only and as close to exact change as possible.

As summer camp heads into the end of week 6 and the beginning of week 7 is approaching, are you finding that you don't have any plans for your kiddos until school starts? Sanford Recreation can help with that. We are holding 2 bonus weeks of summer camp that we call VACATIO CAMP. August 10th-14th and the 17th-21st. That leaves one week before the kiddos return to school on August 31st.

We will be doing rec swimming days on Tuesday and Wednesdays those weeks along with 1 field trip each week. Of course, weather dependent, all plans can change.

The City of Sanford is proud to recognize Barbara Bucklin for 25 years of dedicated service to our community.

Barb began her career with the City in 2001 as a temporary employee in the Police Department's Clerk's Office before joining the Planning Department, where she provided administrative support to the Planning and Codes Enforcement offices from 2001 to 2019.

In 2019, Barbara joined the Parks & Recreation Department as an Administrative Assistant, a role she has held for the past six and a half years. She is an instrumental part of the department, often serving as the first face visitors see and the friendly voice they hear when they call. She helps coordinate many community events, including Winterfest, the Eggstravaganza, the July 4th festivities, and the Turkey Trot. From processing payroll and paying bills to registering participants for programs and preparing facility rentals, she plays a vital role in keeping the department running smoothly everyday!

We are grateful for Barb's 25 years of dedication and service to the City of Sanford and its residents. Please join us in thanking Barbara and congratulating her on this exciting milestone!

Due to the extreme heat and high heat index forecasted, we will not be sending our summer camps, grades 4th - 6th, to The Rec Area tomorrow. Camp will take place at either Memorial Gym or the Sanford Middle School. The Rec Area will be open to the public tomorrow, July 1st.
