Statements repeated become beliefs
Beliefs repeated become reality
You can’t bend over and touch your toes without pain because you started telling yourself you aren’t flexible
You keep cycling through the same 10lbs of weight loss and gain because at some point you said it’s too hard to eat better
You can’t get out of pain because you started telling yourself it’s because of your age
Statements repeated become beliefs
Beliefs aren’t reality
Statements can change
Beliefs can change
Reality can change
One day I pulled an a$$hole move on a client telling him in great detail about how I failed to save a man who had a heart attack in my gym
I explained what it felt like, what I could hear, see and feel
What it was like to know that I had failed
What it sounded like when the memory of the loss, the sound of the gurgling, the feel of the broker ribs under my palms felt like knowing I wasn’t able to save him would wake me in cold sweats in the middle of the night
How I didn’t sleep through the night for months afterwards
“Wow. He responded. That must have been hard.”
“It was. Now, tell me again how it’s hard to track your food before you put it in your mouth?”
Hard is perspective
Hard is relative to the thought, the belief and the strength of that belief
I’ve deadlifted twice my weight, done pull ups with 100 lbs around my waist
Gone from a 5k to a 50k in a year
Dropped into single digit body fat in my 40s
Learned how to do a human flag and a front lever at 49
Climbed mountains, wrecked dirt bikes, fallen in slot canyons and say through boring meetings in business (the toughest of all)
Along the way the difficulty of learning how to eat well became the easiest part that was also the highest leverage activity to drive everything forward
Track food ➡️ lose fat
Track food ➡️ build muscle
Track food ➡️ improve hormones
Track food ➡️ skyrocket energy
Track food ➡️ learn what accountability really means
Track food ➡️ make more money
Track food ➡️ be confident
So remind me…what’s hard?
