I really enjoy days like this! When I started high jumping my senior year of high school, I jumped a personal best of 6’ 11” which if not the best, it was one of the best jumps in the state. I eventually made it to regional where I choked. We had to jump in the cold and rain and I managed to clear 6’ 3” on my last attempt. I finished in third place and missed out on going to state. This mental let down still haunts me to this day. When I was competing as a professional, I had some of my best training days, including high jumping, in this type of weather. In 1998, I won the World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa in the rain and cold.
