This happy family came out for their very first paddling experience and after some light coaching, managed to paddle up-river to the headwaters where they were rewarded for their efforts with this scene. Way to go! This is an experience they are sure to remember! They even did it twice to gain experience with both canoe and kayaking techniques. Mondays are perfect for this kind of learning experience as there is virtually no river traffic on weekdays compared to weekends in town. To top it off they even stopped for a bite to eat at Kirby Lane!

This section from Shady Grove Campground in Martindale to Staples Dam is great for a shorter 3 hour option that doesn't require you to portage any Dams. Being a little farther downriver, it doesn't have the same water clarity as the Upper section, but makes up for it in solitude and wildlife sightings. The customers below brought their own kayaks from home and utilized our shuttle service so their vehicle would be waiting for them at the end of the trip.

This couple is on their way to the San Marcos River Resort in Fentress after launching from just above the Staples Dam.
