If you're planning on swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding or catching waves this summer, try adding these three exercises to your routine to be confident on the water. ☀️👇

🏋️Lat Pulldowns:

Sit with your thighs secured under the pads, grip the bar slightly wider than shoulder-width, then pull it down toward your upper chest while squeezing your shoulder blades together. Slowly return to the starting position.

💪Single-Arm Rows:

Place one hand and the same-side knee on a bench, hold a dumbbell in the opposite hand, and pull it toward your hip while keeping your back flat. Lower with control and repeat before switching sides.

😉Face Pulls:

Set a cable at face height with a rope attachment. Pull the rope toward your face with your elbows high and wide, squeezing your shoulder blades together, then slowly return to the starting position.

Strong arms help, but strong shoulders, back, and grip help you paddle farther, move more efficiently, and reduce your risk of injury.

🌊 Send this to a buddy you need to take out on the water!

Imagine pre-selling memberships from a trailer with nothing but a backdrop and a rendering back in the '70s.

That's one of the stories founder Joe Shank shared during his speech celebrating AVAC's 50th anniversary, reflecting on the club's early days and the journey that followed.

He also recognized members who have been with AVAC since the beginning and thanked everyone who helped turn a vision into the thriving club we know today. 💙

POV: You want to enjoy your vacation without the post-trip regret. 🥂

Our nutritionist, Jen, shares the three habits that help her enjoy every vacation while still feeling her best.

1️⃣ Take an EITHER/OR approach.

This means: Yes to the fries, no to the margarita. A salad for lunch paired with your favorite glass of rosé. A scoop of ice cream after dinner, but lean fish and veggies for your meal.

2️⃣ PRIORITIZE protein + veggies.

When you're building your plate, pay attention to where your protein is coming from, then load up on as many fruits and vegetables as you can. Protein + fiber = a winning combination!

3️⃣ Pick one NON-NEGOTIABLE.

Ditch the "all-or-nothing" mindset. Commit to just one simple habit—like hitting your daily step goal, staying hydrated, or getting enough sleep—to help you stay grounded without feeling restricted.

Planning a trip soon? SAVE this as your three-step feel-good cheat sheet to reference whenever you're out of your normal routine. ✈️

Barbell Myths, do you know all of these? 👇

Barbells can feel intimidating because they're often associated with powerlifting, heavy weights, and experienced weightlifters. But they're much less intimidating than they seem, and trainer Taryn is here to bust some common myths!🏋️

➡️Myth #1: You have to be really strong to start.
Truth: AVAC has 35- and 45-pound bars. As long as you can lift one, you're ready to start! The barbell is easy to progressively overload, helping you build strength over time.

➡️Myth #2: Barbells are only for advanced, complicated lifts.
Truth: If you're already doing squats, deadlifts, or presses with bodyweight, dumbbells, or kettlebells, you're likely more prepared for barbell training than you think.

➡️Myth #3: Barbells make you “bulky.”
Truth: Weight is weight. A 45-pound barbell isn't any different than 45 pounds of dumbbells, kettlebells, groceries, laundry baskets, or carrying your kids around!

☀️ Summer is the perfect time to start building strength, and the benefits can stay with you for life.
