Grateful for the opportunity to work with so many different players and various levels this summer. From players pursuing pro careers, playing collegiately at every level, to high school, middle school, and especially those just beginning. You make me appreciate that I get to wake up each day and be trusted to join you along on this journey. Where can this ball take you?

To the 300+ players I got to share the court with this summer, thank you 🙏

I really liked the results of playing out of the get action in this setup. By having one of the defenders start by trailing the play, the offense is prompted to exploit the early opportunity. Defense has to work on recovering while trailing the play and their communication.

Adding in the third offensive player and defensive player incorporates an additional read and communication point for both sides.

Pro Hop Progressions with the SVBC B2031 group. Had them work through a few different variations from block skill development to more CLA. It was fun watching them get a better feel for this as the workout progressed.

I like to integrate guided defense into live scenarios to get the offensive players used to a structured movement or action we are trying to work on, and then letting them intuitively get into the next thing.

In these drills, we worked on a skip tween to low crossover and then a punch drag. While executing the punch drag, the low man was supposed to shade to a side, challenging the ball handler to read where the open space is and then attack. Here are a couple of reps where the player was able to get a good read and bucket.

Might have to have the kids mic’d up more often 🤣

Past couple weeks have introduced some half spin fades over both shoulders. While I stress being on balance often, intentionally being off balance is a great skill.
