Archery club and public archery range in San José, California; established 1949.

We run and maintain the archery range at Santa Teresa County Park, and promote and organize archery tournaments and events at the local and state level.

We're still looking for some volunteers to help out with this weekend's Santa Clara County Parks "Taste of Archery" (https://santaclaracountyparks.ticketspice.com/taste-of-archery) introductory archery event, happening at BMB this Saturday morning (August 15). At this outreach event we'll be introducing members of the public to archery. This is a great opportunity to share our enthusiasm for archery and get new people into the sport.

No specific qualifications are required, other than being comfortable with demonstrating and teaching basic archery concepts to adults and children. If you're available to help out with the 8am and/or 10am sessions, please contact us ([email protected]).

Thank you to everyone who attended this weekend's Mission Trails Bowhunter Association 900 regional target archery tournament! It was a pleasure to host this region's archers and we hope everybody had a good time.

Thanks especially to all the volunteers who helped organize, set up, and run the event. Things ran smoothly thanks to your efforts!

We hope everyone is having a great summer and getting plenty of time to enjoy this sport we all enjoy.

National champions among our ranks! BMB youth archers triumphed at the USA Archery JOAD Target Nationals tournament in Nebraska last weekend. Ilina Upadhyaya, Ashwath Manu, and Aania Powar took top honors, winning first place in Barebow U13 Women, Barebow U13 Men, and Barebow U15 Women divisions (respectively). JoJo Rosal and Brandon Nishihara also put in strong showings in their respective divisions. Huge congratulations to them and to all the BMB archers representing our little club on the national stage!

Speaking of tournaments, we've got a few happening locally in the next couple months; here are your BMB updates for August:

* Our monthly range maintenance Work Party is happening this Saturday, August 1. If you're not off hunting dinosaurs (https://sfarchers.org/events/one-million-bc-shoot/), please come by and help us maintain and improve the archery range we all share.
* No experience needed; members and non-members alike are welcome!
Work starts around 8 AM (latecomers okay); come find us in the clubhouse/picnic area by the main parking. If arriving late, just look around and any of the volunteers on site can point you in the right direction.
* Dress as if for yard work, and bring work/gardening gloves if you have them.
* As a thank-you to our volunteers, we'll be serving lunch and refreshments when work activities wrap up.
* All parts of the range will be closed to shooting, and will reopen no earlier than 2 PM.
* Looking to log volunteer hours? Sign up via the Santa Clara County volunteering site (https://scc.samaritan.com/custom/502/opp_details/4924).

* There's no Club Shoot this month, as on BMB will be hosting...

* ... The MTBA Regional 900 tournament, taking place at BMB on the weekend of August 8-9.
* You can shoot either on Saturday or Sunday, or both if shooting in two different equipment divisions.
* The format is an NFAA 900 (https://nfaausa.com/about/constitution/official-nfaa-rounds-part-ii), just like our Club Shoots.
* Help earn points for BMB as we vie for the 2026 MTBA Club of the Year title!
* Pre-registration is required and closes next week, so fill in the online form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdozJEa-jPs14SgXkgath2qsxCZeN0aN8kVh-0aYZ-xfOF1kg/viewform?usp=dialog) if you intend to participate.
* NFAA and BMB memberships required.

* Registration is open for the CBH/SAA State 900 tournament happening at various locations and on various dates, including BMB on September 12-13.
* Online registration for the BMB-hosted shoots can be found here (https://www.runreg.com/cbh-state-target-championship-black-mountain-bowmen-91226).
* Find other venues and opportunities to participate over on the CBH website (https://cbhsaa.org/).
* NFAA membership required.

* Just like last year, BMB is hosting Santa Clara County Parks' Taste of Archery (https://santaclaracountyparks.ticketspice.com/taste-of-archery) introductory archery event on Saturday, August 15. This is an opportunity for members of the public to try out archery for the first time.
* There will be two sessions, 8 AM and 10 AM.
* Volunteers needed! We need help with setting up the event, as well as instructors for the event. This is a great outreach opportunity for the club and a great way to get new people into the sport.
* Please get in touch with us ([email protected]) if you're available to help out of this event.

Lots happening at BMB this month, and lots happening on the tournament scene as well. Good luck to everyone shooting at 1 Million BC this weekend, at the MTBA Regional 900 next weekend, at USA Archery Target Nationals later this month, or at any of the many other tournaments happening this month!

See you at the range!

Greetings BMB'ers!

Summer is officially here and BMB archers have been distinguishing themselves at tournaments near and far. Well done to everyone who shot at the NFAA Field Sectionals, CBH State Field Championship, USAT SoCal Showdown and California State Outdoor tournaments this past month!

June also saw the final events in our 2026 Wednesday Night 3D League series. Thank you to everyone who participated, and especially to everyone who volunteered to make the League happen this year!

Thanks also to everyone who came out BMB's inaugural Santa Teresa Cup tournament! The event ran smoothly, we had great attendance with our tournament range and targets at near full capacity, and the weather conditions, while warm, weren't overly challenging. We're already looking forward to next year's event and thinking about how we might make things even better, so if you've got any ideas or suggestions, we'd be happy for your feedback.

There's still lots more to do archery-wise this summer; here's what's going on at BMB in July:

* The monthly range maintenance Work Party takes place as scheduled (first Saturday of the month) on Saturday, July 4. We realize many of you may have plans for this holiday weekend, but we'd really appreciate anyone who can come out to help us with all the various tasks to maintain and improve the range that we all enjoy.

+ Work starts around 8 AM; come find us in the clubhouse/picnic area by the main parking. If arriving late, just look around and any of the volunteers on site can point you in the right direction.

The July Club Shoot will take place on Sunday, July 12. The Club Shoot format for the outdoor season is the NFAA 900 round:
+ Archers will shoot three rounds, each of five 6-arrow ends, at 60, 50, and 40 yards, on 122-cm 10-ring targets (shorter distances for youth and cub archers).
+ There will be two ends of practice prior to the first round (distance), and 10-15 minute breaks between each round.
+ Archers will be grouped and assigned to targets by division according to NFAA rules.
+ New to tournament archery? Check out this great introductory video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJMb3bSA_f4) from the fine folks over at Pasadena Roving Archers.
+ The shoot is free for current BMB members, $10 for guests.

Looking for more events? Here's a sample of what's going on at other MTBA ranges in the region:

* King's Mountain Archers is hosting their annual Skyline 3D Shoot (https://www.kingsmountainarchers.org/events/skyline-3d-shoot-2026/) on Sunday, July 19.

That's just about it for this first full month of summer. Stay cool and/or hydrated, everyone, and don't skimp on the sunblock!

See you at the range!

Thank you to everyone who came out to this past weekend's inaugural installment of the Santa Teresa Cup, hosted by Black Mountain Bowmen! Close to 60 archers showed up to shoot at our largest outdoor target archery tournament in recent years, including 24 Olympic recurve archers shooting at the full 70m distance. The weather was hot but manageable, and overall the event went smoothly, with many archers getting to experience the excitement of archery match play for the first time.

Saturday's qualifying results can be found at:https://blackmountainbowmen.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/2026-Santa-Teresa-Cup-qualifying-results.pdf

Sunday's final results can be found at:https://blackmountainbowmen.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/2026-Santa-Teresa-Cup-final-results.pdf

Let's do it even better next year!
