Confidence grows when children experience what they can do.

At SafeSplash, we see that happen through listening, practicing, working through difficult skills and recognizing real progress in the pool.

That idea is also at the heart of the Generation Real Project, an initiative led by our parent company, Youth Enrichment Brands. Generation Real is focused on helping families create more of the meaningful, hands-on experiences that build confidence, resilience and joy.

Its first practical resource is the Generation Real Essential Reading List, featuring eight books selected by Youth Enrichment Brands CEO Rob Price and child-development experts Erica Komisar, LCSW, and Jennifer Breheny Wallace.

The books offer guidance for four challenges many families are navigating: screens and attention, confidence and independence, achievement pressure, and meaningful connection.

You do not need to read every book. Start with the question that feels most relevant to your family and take one small step.

👶 Welcome to Baby Safety Month.

Every September since 1991, this month has been dedicated to helping parents and caregivers keep their little ones safer, in and out of the water. 🌊

We're using the month to share facts including the numbers behind drowning risk, what it looks like, and small habits that make the biggest difference.

Follow along all month!

💧👶 Is your babysitter water safety educated?

The National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA) created a Caregiver Water Safety Checklist to help parents and caregivers understand the steps needed to keep kids safer in and around water.

We’ve partnered with NDPA to help raise awareness about drowning prevention and share resources that empower families and caregivers with the right knowledge.

“I'm an adult. Isn't it too late for me to learn swimming?”

No.

It's not too late.

Not even close.

I've seen adults walk into a pool nervous about putting their face underwater…

…and gradually become comfortable swimmers.

The secret?

Don't start with complicated strokes.

Start with:

Comfort → Breathing → Floating → Balance → Movement → Technique

One step at a time.

You don't need to be athletic.

You don't need to have learned as a child.

And you certainly don't need to feel embarrassed.

You simply need to start.

Swimming can become a lifelong skill, a form of exercise, and a source of confidence.

Your age isn't the problem. Not starting is.

Ready to finally learn?

“What if my child accidentally falls into the water?”

It's a scary thought for every parent.

And it's exactly why water safety should be part of swimming education.

Swimming isn't just about learning freestyle.

Children should gradually learn important survival skills such as:

→ Floating
→ Breath control
→ Safe water entry
→ Finding and reaching the wall
→ Getting out of the water
→ Staying calm when they unexpectedly enter water

But there's one thing every parent should remember:

Swimming lessons never replace active adult supervision around water.

The goal of lessons is to give children skills and confidence that can help them respond more safely around water.

Don't wait until your child is comfortable in the pool.

Start building those skills now.

Book a SafeSplash trial lesson and let your child begin learning essential water safety skills.

“My child is scared of water. What should I do?”

This is one of the most common things parents tell us.

And here's what I want you to know:

Don't force them.

When a child is afraid of water, pushing them into the pool can make the fear stronger.

Instead, build confidence one small step at a time.

Start with:

→ Sitting near the pool
→ Getting their feet wet
→ Splashing and playing
→ Blowing bubbles
→ Putting their face in the water
→ Learning to float with support

Each small success tells your child:

“I can do this.”

That's how confidence grows.

At SafeSplash, we don't expect every child to learn at the same speed.

We meet swimmers where they are and help them progress from there.

Want to see how your child responds to swimming lessons?

Book a trial lesson and let them take the first step toward becoming more confident in the water.
