The Academy of Tae Kwon Do, located in City Barbell Club at 2 Brook Street in San Francisco, was established in 1979 by Professor Bill Dewart. The classes at the academy are open to everyone. Please call or stop by for more information about classes offered or special arrangements. Grand Master and Professor Bill Dewart is the direct student of Grandmaster S. Henry Cho who opened the first Korean martial arts dojang in the United States. Professor Dewart himself has been teaching for more than 40 years and has taught in New York, New Jersey, Paris and San Francisco. Formerly the AAU Taekwondo Regional Director for California and Nevada and instructor at San Francisco State University, Professor Dewart has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, the San Francisco Chronicle, Black Belt Magazine, Taekwondo Times, and other publications. He has been inducted into the All American Hall of Fame, the World Karate Union Hall of Fame and the World Soke Council Hall of fame.
