Remembering Robert Emmet 🇮🇪
The United Irish Societies of San Francisco will hold its annual Robert Emmet Commemoration on Sunday, September 20th, in Golden Gate Park.
The commemoration will begin at noon at the Bandstand, followed by a march to the Robert Emmet statue, accompanied by Irish, American, and county flags.
The Pearse & Connolly Fife & Drum Band will take part in the commemoration, alongside the Irish Pipers Band of San Francisco. There will also be a recitation of Robert Emmet’s "Speech from the Dock" by Daire Lyne.
Robert Emmet was executed in Dublin on September 20, 1803, at the age of 25. More than two centuries later, his memory continues to be honored by Irish communities around the world, including here in San Francisco.
