Welcome Our Summer Intern: Austin Sheldon

We are excited to welcome our high school summer intern, Austin Sheldon, to the DIAKADI team!

This summer, Austin will get an inside look at every aspect of running a successful fitness business in San Francisco. Beyond learning the day-to-day operations, he'll also be developing the professional habits, communication skills, initiative, and work ethic that will help him succeed in school, future careers, relationships, and life. Our goal is to provide a hands-on experience that prepares him for future opportunities while helping him stand out from his peers.

A Message from Austin

Hi! My name is Austin Sheldon, and I'm from Livermore, California. I'm excited for the opportunity to intern at DIAKADI Fitness this summer.

This fall, I'll be entering my junior year at Granada High School, where I play varsity baseball as a catcher, second baseman, and outfielder, as well as varsity football as a wide receiver. Outside of sports, I enjoy strength training, spending time with my two German Shepherds, and playing video games like Ready or Not and Call of Duty.

I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can from the team at DIAKADI and gaining experience that will help me in the future.

This Juneteenth, we are proud to spotlight the Mission Bowling Club, a woman and Black-owned San Francisco business built on connection, community, and celebration.

Founded in 2012 by Molly Bradshaw and Sommer Peterson, Mission Bowling Club was created to bring together the fun of bowling with the hospitality and atmosphere of one of San Francisco’s great gathering spaces. From company outings and holiday parties to community events and nights out with friends, MBC has become a place where people come together and feel welcome. DIAKADI has even had the opportunity to host one of our own holiday parties there!

Beyond creating memorable experiences, Mission Bowling Club is dedicated to supporting the local community through nonprofit partnerships, fundraising, and a strong commitment to diversity across its staff and leadership.

As we honor Juneteenth and reflect on the importance of supporting inclusive, community driven spaces, we are grateful for businesses like that continue to make San Francisco feel connected.

Four years ago, Harry started training with Coach AJ () with a simple goal: get stronger, move better, and build consistency in the gym.

What followed was years of steady progress. Harry went from struggling with a single chin up to knocking out reps with ease. He built lean muscle, increased his strength across the board, lowered his body fat percentage, and made significant improvements in his mobility, particularly through his shoulders, hips, and knees.

Along the way, he resolved chronic shoulder and lower back pain, completed the Paris Half Marathon, and developed the confidence that comes from putting in the work week after week.

Ask the Coach: “How do you help clients regain momentum after falling off track?”

Getting back on track can feel overwhelming. We asked our coaches where they recommend starting.

Pablo ():

“To help clients regain momentum, I first identify the underlying reason they fell off track. Whether it’s stress, a significant life change, or whatever, understanding the cause allows us to create an appropriate plan moving forward. After discussing their challenges, I focus on scaling back expectations and rebuilding sustainable habits rather than immediately increasing intensity. The goal is long-term consistency and progress over a quick return that may lead to another setback”.

Cole ():

“Anytime I see a client who has taken time off of training or is losing motivation. I’ll schedule a couple of days of complete strength and conditioning testing. The testing includes Plyometrics, Agility’s, Strength and Conditioning tests. This is a quick way to motivate clients and set some new goals and get them back on track”.

This past weekend, DIAKADI coach Brandon (.liftforlife) competed in Nevada’s 2026 Strongest Man competition, finishing 2nd overall in a hard fought comeback performance.

The day started with a 505lb squat PR, followed by a 1st place finish in the 250lb clean and press with 5 reps in 60 seconds. Despite a costly mistake and fall during the mystery carry event, Brandon stayed focused and bounced back with a 2nd place finish in the sandbag carry and a 1st place finish in the final event, putting a 300lb stone over a 52-inch bar 6 times in 60 seconds.

More than the podium finish, this competition marked Brandon’s return after tearing both his bicep and hamstring last year.

As Brandon reflected after the event, “sometimes we can put off goals of hours and keep trying to prepare as a way to procrastinate or wait to feel ready to put ourselves out there. It’s a reminder to me that sometimes you just have to try for something even if you are worried about how it’s going to turn out or don’t feel fully prepared for it, but you prepared as best as you could”.

Keep doing it ALL and KICK ass doing it!
