To celebrate International Woman's Day, the inspirational sailor we have chosen to highlight this year is Krystyna Chojnowska-Liskiewicz (1936–2021 )

Krystyna Chojnowska-Liskiewicz became the first woman to sail around the world solo. Setting sail from the Canary Islands in March 1976 and returning there in April 1978, she had covered 31,166 nautical miles (57,719 km) in 401 days.
She only narrowly beat New Zealander Naomi James, who was also aspiring to be the first woman to solo circumnavigate the planet, and pave the way for the wealth of intrepid female sailors we have today.
Bravo to these ladies. 👏🎉
