“Why Do You Pay?” 🤷‍♀️
Someone once asked my mom when I was younger…

“Why do you spend so much time and money on your daughter’s dance training, practices, costumes, and performances?”
My mom’s answer was always:
“Well, I have a confession to make…
I don’t pay for my daughter to dance.
Do you know what I’m really paying for?
I’m paying for my daughter to learn discipline.

I’m paying for her to learn how to take care of her body, mind, and spirit.
I’m paying for her to learn how to work with others, be a supportive teammate, and become part of something bigger than herself.

I’m paying for her to develop her creativity, confidence, and strength.
I’m paying for her to learn how to handle disappointment when things don’t go the way she hoped—and to understand that sometimes the answer is simply to work harder and keep going.

I’m paying for her to learn how to set goals and work toward them.
I’m paying for her to understand that beautiful results don’t happen overnight. They come from hours and hours of practice, dedication, sweat, sacrifice, and commitment.

I’m paying for the opportunity for her to create friendships and memories that can last a lifetime.
I’m paying for her to spend her time in a dance studio, surrounded by positive influences, instead of sitting in front of a screen.

I’m paying for those moments when she comes home exhausted from training, knowing she gave everything she had.
I’m paying for all the lessons this beautiful discipline teaches her: responsibility, dedication, commitment, perseverance, respect, confidence, teamwork, culture, and self-worth.

So no… I’m not paying for dance classes.
I’m investing in the person she is becoming.

I’m investing in the opportunity for her to discover her strength, honor Ori Tahiti culture, challenge herself, fall and rise again, and learn that anything worth achieving requires heart and dedication.
And after everything I’ve seen so far…
I truly believe it is one of the best investments I could ever make. 🤍
