Olympic Gold medalist, multiple World and European Champion, and one of Italy’s greatest sailor, Agostino Straulino became one of the iconic figures of the Star Class through decades of success on the water.

As commander of the Amerigo Vespucci and one of the most respected helmsmen of his time, he inspired generations with his skill, leadership and deep connection to the sea.

His legacy lives on through the Star Class, where his achievements, sportsmanship and passion continue to inspire sailors around the world ✨

July keeps the Star Class racing around the world, with fleets competing across Europe and the Americas in district championships and national events. The month concludes with two regattas dedicated to the next generation, the Northern Lake George U30 Regatta at NLGYC and the Next Gen U25 at Lake Sunapee Yacht Club, continuing the Star’s commitment to developing young sailors worldwide.

STAR PEOPLE – EP.3 | AUSTIN SPERRY

The Star People series continues with Austin Sperry, one of the leading figures in today’s Star Class. From winning the 2006 Bacardi Cup and representing the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games to becoming 2024 Star World Champion, his career reflects decades of commitment at the highest level of the sport.

In this episode, Austin shares the moments that shaped his journey, what the Star Class has taught him, and why he believes its future is brighter than ever ⭐️

Nella serata di apertura, i giovani atleti della 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐕𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐚 hanno avuto il privilegio di ascoltare e confrontarsi con grandi nomi della vela internazionale come 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐝𝐭 e 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢, insieme a tanti altri campioni della classe 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫 presenti a Riva.
Un grazie a tutti i campioni presenti, che con racconti, esperienza e consigli hanno condiviso con i nostri ragazzi qualcosa che va ben oltre la regata: il valore dell’impegno, della passione e del lavoro quotidiano.

One year ago the Star fleet gathered in Viareggio for the 2025 European Championship, a week of great racing and unforgettable moments on the water, crowned by the victory of Enrico Chieffi and Nando Colaninno.

As we look back on those memories, the countdown to the next chapter has already begun. The Star European Championship returns to Medemblik, Holland, from August 24–29, 2026.
