🥋 From SwiftKick student to Head Instructor.
Coach Chandler has been part of SwiftKick Martial Arts for more than 12 years. Today, he’s a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Applied Martial Arts and the Head Instructor of our San Diego/Rancho Bernardo team.
We think there’s something pretty special about that.
The same person standing at the front of the class teaching our students today once stood on the other side as a student himself. He’s worked through the belt process, put in years of training, and experienced firsthand what it takes to keep progressing in martial arts.
Now he gets to pass those lessons on to the students coming up behind him.
We’re proud to have Coach Chandler leading our San Diego team. 👊

🎾🥋 What do tennis and martial arts have in common? A lot, actually.
Both give kids plenty of opportunities to practice staying focused, working through frustration, building confidence, and bouncing back when something doesn't go their way.
That's one of the reasons we were excited to team up with On The Rise Tennis Academy for our latest blog.
We talked about how martial arts can complement tennis training and help young athletes work on skills that matter on the court, on the mat, and in everyday life.
If you're raising a young athlete, we think you'll enjoy this one!

Strong. Calm. Capable.
Those skills don’t appear overnight. They grow each time a child listens closely, tries something new, and keeps going when a challenge feels tough.
SwiftKick’s Explorer program gives kids ages 3–5 a fun, supportive place to practice focus, coordination, self-control, and confidence.
Skills for the mat. Lessons for life.

Meet Addison Darling, one of SwiftKick’s 2026 Future Community Leader Award recipients!
Addison understands that leadership isn’t always about being the loudest person in the room. Sometimes it’s about helping a child feel welcome, have fun, and leave with a smile.
We’re proud to recognize Addison and the positive difference she’s making in the lives of others.

“Be the guide, not the hero.”
It’s a coaching lesson that stayed with SwiftKick founder Brian Cowell and helped shape the way he works with students today.
In Episode 4 of the SwiftKick Martial Arts Podcast, Brian shares the story of Grayson, a young student who challenged his assumptions about what was possible. By watching, adjusting, and taking one reachable step at a time, Brian helped Grayson move from private lessons to group training and, eventually, a martial arts tournament.
Brian could prepare and encourage him, but Grayson had to take that final step himself.

A look back at Teen Samurai Camp!
Our campers stepped away from their usual summer routines and into two weeks of focused training inspired by the traditions of the samurai. They practiced control, discipline, martial arts skills, and how to keep going when something felt challenging.
Take a look through some of our favorite moments from camp.

Leadership begins with choosing to serve. Meet Charlotte Sarmiento, one of SwiftKick’s Future Community Leader Awardees! Charlotte supports students across multiple SwiftKick classes, tutors math, serves children at Lighthouse Bible Church, and helps families in her community. Through every experience, she has grown in confidence while creating meaningful connections with the people around her.
As Charlotte shared, “I don’t know who I would be if I had never volunteered or done any service. It has made me who I am today.”
We’re proud to celebrate Charlotte for demonstrating that the lessons developed through martial arts can make a positive difference far beyond the mat.
Please join us in congratulating Charlotte! 👏

Getting separated in a busy place can be scary for kids and parents. A simple plan can help your child stay calm and know what to do next.
Teach them to:
✓ Stay where they are
✓ Look for an employee or a parent with children
✓ Know their parent’s full name and phone number
Practice the plan before your next trip to a store, park, or crowded event. It only takes a few minutes, but it can help your child feel much more prepared.
SwiftKick’s PathFinders program helps kids ages 5–9 build confidence, awareness, and practical safety skills.
