During his posthumous Induction in 2019, Phil Engle said of his grandfather, “he always believed that you did something for a reason. You can always try, learn, do better, then learn more.” He shared much of his knowledge in his book "Race Your Boat Right." Cheers 🥂 to a lifelong racing sailor, 2 x World Champion of the prestigious Star Class and one of only three to win the America’s Cup in both -J Boat and 12M

A full collection of his papers, including published and unpublished works, is available at the G.W. Blunt White Library, Mystic Seaport Museum. He was a lifelong racing sailor, 2 time World Champion of the prestigious Star Class and one of only three sailors to win the America’s Cup in both the J Boat and 12 Metre eras.
