Meet Minaqua! She’s a lifelong movement and fitness enthusiast, with a passion for dance that has led to a professional career in modern dance. Dedicated to exploring movement as a path to strength, longevity, and overall well-being, she discovered Pilates in 2017 and quickly embraced its transformative approach to mindful movement.
In addition to her dance career, Minaqua has taught barre, boxing, and yoga, bringing a well-rounded perspective to every class. She is currently completing her Classical Pilates Teacher Certification at Studio FLO, where she continues to deepen her understanding of the principles and philosophy developed by Joseph Pilates.
Her focus while teaching includes improving mobility, encouraging full core canister breath, and creating a supportive environment where the body embraces the small wins with confidence. Minaqua believes movement is for everyone and is excited to share the many benefits of Pilates with her community. Come take her class at 5:30 this Monday!

Meet Alexandra! She’s teaching a free (donation based) Tower class this Monday at 5:30, the latest in our 7 week community tower series. Alexandra was first introduced to Pilates through the matwork as a teenager as a part of her dance training. Just a few years later, a foot injury limited her capacity to continue dancing and she turned to her mat practice as a way to keep moving. Her developing love of the practice and a desire to help others move better inspired her to pursue a career in teaching the method. She attended a STOTT mat training in 2013 and a contemporary apparatus training in 2015, and began teaching in 2017. A year later she was introduced to the classical method in a reformer order workshop at Studio Flo with Andrea Maida. Inspired by this experience, both her personal practice and her focus as a teacher gradually shifted towards the classical method. She is overjoyed to be officially certified in classical Pilates through Studio Flo’s teacher training program this year, as well as to join the studio’s team of talented, passionate teachers. As a lifelong lover of movement and the outdoors, you can find her outside the studio hiking, inline skating around mission bay, and practicing partner acrobatics in the park with the local community.

Join us Monday, July 13 at 5:30pm for a donation-based mat class with Jessica, one of our newest Studio Flo teachers. Donations will support our non-profit program Flo Gives Back.
Jessica came to Pilates after working through a hip injury, and what started as rehab quickly became a deeper love for the practice. She was drawn to the way Pilates builds strength, control, balance, and a better connection to the body, all things that show up far beyond the studio.
Based on these photos, that connection to movement may have started early. Rolling Like a Ball? Nailed it. Teaser? Honestly, the commitment was there.
Jessica’s approach is rooted in strong foundations and thoughtful movement, helping students build strength, control, and confidence on the mat.
