Join one of our San Diego Beach Volleyball Leagues for a fun time on the sand at South Mission Beach. We have volleyball leagues for all skill levels.
1. Sunday Coed 4v4: sign up alone or sign up as a team for our 8-week intermediate 4 on 4 co-ed league. This league is for those who have some experience playing beach volleyball and want a little more competition. Saturday Competitive 2v2: sign up
alone or sign up as a team for our 8-week intermediate/advanced 2v2 league. This league is for those who have experience playing beach volleyball and want even more competition. Saturday Intermediate 2v2: sign up alone or sign up as a team for our 8-week intermediate 2v2 league. This league is for those who have experience playing beach volleyball and want even more competition.
2. Private lessons: If you are looking to really improve your skills, sign up to work with one or both coaches, or sign up with friends for a more skills focused lesson to get you ready for the league play dates. http://www.sdbvl.com/private-lessons.html
B. Private Team Lessons: If your team would like to be coached on how to improve as a unit, sign up for a team lesson focusing on skills and teamwork. CBVA Training: partners train together to prepare for CBVA tournaments. Schedule of Leagues:
A. Coed 4 on 4: Play starts Sunday 3/03 and goes through Sunday 4/16, 9am-12pm. Competitive 2 on 2: Play starts Saturday 3/02 and goes through Saturday 4/15 9 am - 11 am with a best 2 out of 3 to 21 format, 3rd game to 15. Intermediate 2 on 2: Play starts Saturday 4/3 and goes through Saturday 5/15 6pm-7pm. Private lessons and private team lessons can set up and schedule Monday-Thursday between 8am-5pm for one hour increments. CBVA tournament prep lessons can also be scheduled Mondays between 3-7pm if you and your partner are looking for some drills and practice before the next CBVA tournament. Pricing:
Lessons:
1. Private lessons with one or both coaches is $60 an hour
2. Group classes with one or both coaches is $15 per person an hour
3. CBVA training session for two partners is $40 per person an hour.

Beach pokey.
In indoor volleyball, players are allowed to execute an “open hand” tip using fingers and thumb. For beach volleyball, that is not allowed. We have to use a “knuckle tip” or pokey. This player utilizes the beach pokey effectively.

Beach volleyball spike.
Timing the set is critical for executing an effective spike. If you approach too early, you will miss the ball. The player demonstrates good timing on the set with a four step approach: right-left-right-left.

Beach volleyball attack.
The spike or attack can take on many forms during the game. One of the most critical aspects to an effective attack is timing the set. For beginners, they will approach the ball too early and completely miss the opportunity for an effective spike. In this video, the player spiking the ball does an excellent job of waiting for the set and then executes her approach for a good hit.

Which hand will he use?
To adjust to the block, the hitter may use the less dominant hand for the attack. It may not always be an optimal hit, but can bypass the block to score a point. Is this the level you’re ready to move into?
