San Diego Mesa College: Women's Indoor and Beach Volleyball

⏰ THROWBACK! To get ready for 2026, we are highlighting 5 previous squads from the past, in no particular order. We start with the 2021 crew!

2021 was a special season, because it was the first time back from COVID. A core group of players and coaches stuck it out together, online for over a year during lockdowns and no competition. They stayed motivated, strong and ready on their own, picking up where we left off, with strong momentum for the upcoming season.

2021 marked one of the best seasons Mesa had had in years, returning to the state tournament for the first time in 15 years.

They had a stellar 22-5 season, PCAC Champs, PCAC MVP, 6 All-Conference players, 2 All-Region Recipients and Coach of the Year Honors. This was a group of absolute Mesa legends, coaching staff and players alike!

The exciting season ended with a loss in the quarterfinals to the eventual state champs. That would be the first of many trips to the state championship, starting from 2021, a pivotal season.

Mesa would continue to build a new championship era, thanks to the 2021 squad that finally made it back to the championship tournament!

The individuals on the squad not only became lifelong friends, but would go on to do big things, including a couple returning players who would come back in 2023 and lead the program to its first ever 3C2A Championship! Any guesses on who they were? 🤔

🌺 BIG MESA WELCOME TO COACH JAALYN SOTOA-STUEBING 🌺

We are absolutely thrilled to officially welcome Jaalyn to our coaching staff! Coach Jaalyn brings an incredible blend of elite playing experience and a championship-winning resume to our program.

For indoor, she was a standout player for Fresno Pacific University after prepping at strong programs, including powerhouse Cathedral Catholic, where her team was crowned CIF State Champs as well as Coast Volleyball Club. She then took her talents to the beach at Miramar College, where she made history during their inaugural beach season making it all the way to the 3C2A Championships along with a PCAC Pairs Championship!

As a coach, Jaalyn has a proven pedigree of developing talent and winning at the absolute highest levels. She spent four years on the staff, giving back to her alma mater at Cathedral Catholic, helping assist the team to massive success and capturing both the Open Division CIF and State Championship titles in 2022 and 2024! 🏅

With deep roots in the San Diego volleyball community, she has also exuded positive leadership at Westview High School and Wave Volleyball Club.

Coach Jaalyn knows what it takes to succeed as both a student-athlete and a mentor, and her passion for coaching and for the game makes her the perfect fit for our program!

Please help us give her a massive Olympian welcome as we get ready for an incredible season ahead! 🎊 🎊

😃 SMILE WEEK CONTINUES! As we continue to celebrate the accomplishments of this sophomore class, we also enjoyed our annual signing with family and friends. This group was one for the record books, as our largest sophomore class ever.

✅ Over $500,000 in scholarships awarded

We have Mesa alum going to almost every corner of the country this year, as well as some staying closer to home.

We cannot be more proud of this group and when it comes to moving on to the next level, the standard that they have set for future Olympians has risen.

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for each and every one of them!!

🗣️ COMMIT ALERT ‼️

HUGE congrats to Miss Eva Luna for her commitment to play NCAA DI Volleyball at University of Portland.

Eva is a local, from University City High School and has been a huge impact for both beach and indoor during her time at Mesa. She has been an all-conference selection for both an integral part of both the 2025 Beach State Championship, as well as a starter and big contributor for deep runs into the playoffs for indoor and beach for the last 2 years.

We cannot be more proud, and excited for what the future holds. Great job EVA 💕💕
