✨ Introducing WCDC’s Student Choreographers Lab ✨
So excited to launch our inaugural 2026–2027 Student Choreographers Lab, a new opportunity for our students to step beyond performance and into the role of creator.
Selected student choreographers will collaborate with WCDC faculty to bring original works to life, working with fellow dancers in a supportive, creative environment. Through this experience, students will develop leadership, communication, collaboration, and artistic vision while discovering the power of sharing their unique voice through movement.
💫 Open to:
• TL5 & TL6 students applying as choreographers
• TL4–TL6 students applying as dancers
Applications open tomorrow, July 16!

We are closing our 2026 “What’s Next” series with a dancer who is also a very loved WCDC teacher… Ashanti Jones!
What’s next?: Continue my education at New York University for the next four years on a pre med track.
Fave WCDC memory?: My favorite memory at WCDC was watching all my students perform at recital, showing off all their hard work and dedication throughout this past season.
Ashanti you are now a member of the WCDC alumni but also a loved teacher that will be missed!

Shout out to our next dancer in our “What’s Next” series. Today is for Avery Bryar!
What’s next?: I will be attending Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. I will be doing a five year doctorate program for occupational therapy. I also plan on minoring in dance while there.
Fave WCDC memory?: My fave WCDC memory is being in the dressing rooms and backstage on show days. It was always so fun being with my friends laughing, getting ready and warming up together. And taking pictures together after we finished.
Welcome to the WCDC alumni Avery!

We want to congratulate another one of our dancers in our “What’s Next” series. Today is for Julie Silva!
What’s next?: I will be attending UT Austin as a biology major and spending my first semester abroad in Copenhagen Denmark. I also hope to continue dancing recreationally. I hope to be a physical therapist for dancers.
Fave WCDC memory?: My favorite memory at WCDC was being in the wings with Ava at ballet competitions where we would help each other stay warm before going onstage. Being able to hug Ava after performing my solo, especially at YAGP made me so much less nervous and taught me what it really means to be part of a competition team.
Welcome to the WCDC alumni Julie!
