How often do you practice shooting?

Part of being an ethical hunter is to shoot where you are aiming at, every time, for a quick, clean kill.

However, Adam Moore at MeatEater thinks 90% of hunters only shoot right before hunting season starts to make sure their rifle is still sighted in. (https://www.themeateater.com/hunt/firearm-hunting/you-need-practice-not-a-new-rifle)

Here's your sign to find a range and get some practice!

Time to start planning those hunts! 🦌

Texas Parks and Wildlife have posted the 2026-27 hunting season dates. Now is the time to check gear, get some practice in, and to make sure you are hunter ed certified.

(Need help with that last one? We train new hunters every second Saturday of the month: https://www.sarodeo.com/events/2024/hunter-education-courses).

Best to download the Outdoor Annual app on your phone to stay up to date on any changes.

When you think of wildlife, what comes to mind?

Maybe pandas. Maybe deer.

But wildlife isn’t just the big, beautiful animals.

It’s also the misunderstood.
The scaled.
The fuzzy.
The feathered.
The eight-legged.

That’s why we love partnering with , a mobile zoo bringing hands-on animal education right to you.

From the Eurasian eagle-owl and Flemish Giant rabbit…to ball pythons, tarantulas, and even millipedes…

Each one plays a role.
Each one has a purpose.
Each one matters.

This Sunday, March 1, is your last chance to see them at Wildlife, TX inside the Freeman Coliseum.

Come meet the wild side of wildlife.

Wildlife crime hurts all Texans. Capt Scott Haney, retired, says there are 254 counties in Texas but only 500 game wardens. That’s why exists, so that YOU can help protect your wildlife.

We work closely with in our hunter education classes and at the . Last night they were hosted in a box, met Cowgirl Cavietta .pence, and were honored during the show. We love our game wardens!

If you see wildlife crime, you can contact a game warden by calling 800 792-GAME (4263), through your local sheriff, or by going to the website and finding the game warden for your county.
