One of the hardest things for a leader to accept is that being needed is not the same as building capacity.
If your executives need you to solve every difficult problem, approve every decision, or step in whenever things get complicated, you may have built dependence without realizing it.
Your job is not to remain the answer to every problem.
It is to build executives who can think, decide, and execute at a high level without needing you at every step.
That is what makes leadership scalable.
If you are intentional about building that level of executive capacity, explore our Executive Leadership Coaching:

You cannot ask people to “take ownership” while leading them in a way that leaves them little room to own anything.
If your team waits for instructions, avoids difficult decisions, or brings every problem back to you, the issue may be deeper than motivation.
Look at the leadership habits behind the behaviour.
The way you handle mistakes. The context you share. The decisions you hold onto. The judgment you allow people to exercise.
These shape how much ownership your team is actually able to take.
Leadership is not just about getting people to do their jobs. It is about creating the conditions for them to think, decide, and take responsibility.
Comment SLF for a one on one conversation on how to build stronger ownership within your team.

One question I think every person in a leadership position should sit with:
What happens to people when they are around me?
Do they become more confident or more cautious?
More willing to speak or more afraid to be wrong?
More capable or more dependent?
Leadership leaves an imprint. The question is whether yours is helping people grow into their capacity.
And that is why leadership intelligence matters. Understanding how you think, communicate, make decisions, and influence others is part of becoming a more intentional leader.
If you are ready to explore your leadership intelligence and understand where your leadership can grow, the Leadership Intelligence Journey™ is a great place to begin.

Sometimes, we look at a teenager and see their grades, personality, or behaviour.
But we may miss the leadership strengths developing underneath.
How do they respond to pressure?
How do they communicate?
How do they influence others?
How do they make decisions?
These are clues.
The earlier we understand them, the better we can help them develop.
That is why we created the Leadership Intelligence Assessment for Teens.
10 minutes can reveal a lot about the leader your teen is becoming.

There is a difference between a CEO having visibility and a CEO having to personally maintain it.
If your organization cannot move until the CEO has seen it, approved it or understood it, you may have built a business that depends too heavily on one person.
Today’s Brief explores how to change that.

A child who constantly asks “why?” may be showing curiosity. A child who rallies others may be showing influence. A child who speaks up may be showing confidence.
These are not just childhood behaviours to observe and move past.
They may be early expressions of leadership.
The Leadership Intelligence Assessment™ helps parents understand those signals and uncover the strengths worth developing.
Leadership potential deserves to be noticed early.
