NSCA is the largest Sporting Clays association in the world and the governing body for the sport in the U.S. We keep records of our members’ scores in competition, register shoots for the clubs and associations, hold the National Championship each year, and provide myriad awards for outstanding achievements.

Ennio Mattarelli (5 August 1928-23 August 2026)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ennio Mattarelli, founder of Mattarelli and inventor of the Mattarelli Trap Machines. Ennio was a great Italian sport shooter and Olympic Champion. He was a Gold Medalist at the 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympics, Gold Medalist at both the 1961 World Championship in Oslo and the 1969 World Championship in San Sebastian. He was also a Bronze Medalist at the 1973 World Championship in Melbourne. At the time of his passing, he was the oldest surviving Olympic Gold Medalist in Italy. As a human being he was one of the most genuine, generous and friendly individuals you would ever meet. It was almost impossible to talk to him when he attended matches due to his popularity. He was also one of the cofounders of Perazzi and designed numerous fi****ms such as the Rottweil Paragon shotgun and Sauer 200 rifle. He was also an avid hunter, returning every year to his property in Africa where he spent quality time hunting and enjoying the scenery and the people. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, daughters Silvia, Monica, and Manuella, Mauro, Massimo and granddaughter Viola. RIP.

The Sporting Clays Nation Podcast is looking for its next host.🎙️⬇️

A great host is made of curiosity, not credentials.

Nineteen episodes in, Cliff Seibert is stepping away at year's end. This chair puts you in the room where the sport gets decided — across from the shooter who just took Nationals, beside the owner of one of the great clubs, in front of the people running the NSCA. You're there for the moment the champion finally exhales and the story behind the score comes out.

A producer handles the recording, editing, publishing, and every technical decision. Your job is the conversation.

Paid, contracted position. Compensation amount on request. Twenty-six episodes to start, and we want someone who'll be there a lot longer than that. Podcast experience is a plus — a love of this sport is what counts.

To apply, send a resume, a link to anything you've hosted, or record 5–10 minutes of you interviewing someone about anything. Phone audio is perfect. We're listening for how you ask questions.

[email protected] — deadline Monday, September 14.

Share this with anyone who talks too much and listens well.
