We are just five(5) weeks out from the "Best Regatta Ever" and the one that you will not go home hungry! We here at Woodlawn are proud to be the only Five Time host of the AMYA Victoria Class National Championship. Never to late to get registered if you have not yet. Just go to the AMYA Regatta Schedule page and click on event's Title to go to the Entry List and click on "Register" to get on the list. Click on the "NOR" link to get all the details you will need to plan your weekend in San Antonio. Just a reminder there is a block of rooms at a Group rate for the weekend at the Host Hotel - Holiday Express. Call the number listed and give the three letter code of "WSC" for the group rate. Reminder that your reservations need to made by September 23rd to be guaranteed. After September 23rd it will be upon availabilty of rooms only!

Going to be a great event in the beautiful City of San Antonio. I encourage you to possibly bring wife and visit the City for a few days before or after.

PRESS RELEASE: WSC DF95 Series

Raceday Report:
The goal is to never race in 100* heat so changing our window to race from 10am to 1pm today was a good call. And it worked for us cause it hit 100* at exactly at 1pm after we got 8 races in giving us 2 throw outs. William Ramlo continues to take us to school with his Orange County, CA light air experience! Then the rest of us were racing for 2nd, look at the points after 8 races and 2 throw outs for 3nd through 4th!!! I was extremely happy with 9 boats on a Texas Heat Wave day, typical for Texas in August. Thank you for Willuam “Boomvang” Gregory for helping us out on the Finish line with the clipboard.

8 boats today!

Very hot July day but we decided to race anyway starting promptly at 11 in order to beat the heat. Great to have eight boats out everybody chipped in to help get set up. Did our usual three races back to back with 10 to 15 minute break between. It was good to get three sets off and 10 races to give us to throw out. William Ramlo continues to give us sailing lessons from Orange County California on the light shifty days and he is always a challenge to beat. Everybody had bonus of glory today at some point, even some over early and 360s for penalties. Thanks again for everyone showed up see you next month.

PRESS RELEASE: June Make-up Raceday
July 12th, 2026
Hot, Humid, Light Winds, Hot

Today was a make-up day from last months rained out date. After a quick shout to Dick Van Hooser for his birthday today and after wife Karen brought out a birthday cookie to slice up. Time to race! Three races back to back and since the wind was up a bit we decided on the dock to run a 4th race. Just as everyone got up to Clubhouse the light rain came for 10 minutes, then the winds died and the lake went to mirror finish. We bagged the day at 12:45 and put everything back in Clubhouse and that was it! We had a great turnout of 10 boats!

See everyone in two weeks on July 26th for our scheduled July DF95 Raceday!

PRESS RELEASE: AMYA and WSC in the spotlight today!
July 11th, 2026

City Council District 7 Council Woman Marina Alderete Gavito and Staff organized a great event today at Woodlawn Lake Park’s Casting Pond. Her office reached out to us at the Woodlawn Sailing Club to come set up a display to show and educate the kids/parents about RC Sailing. Even though it was a Fishing outing for all the kids, it was a great opportunity for WSC to show off boats and answer questions from the kids. We handed out magazines to parents and encouraged some to come out tomorrow for WSC’s DF95 Raceday.
Club and AMYA members Eric Gregory, William Ramlo, Jeff Beck, John Rodriguez, Marty Giblin, and myself were all on hand early this morning and had a great time and didn’t even get a boat wet. City Council Woman’s staff supplied breakfast taco for all and the San Antonio Police Officer Association supplied lunch for all also. Just a great time! It was also a great time to fly AMYA’s newly designed Windblades! Thanks guys for the help! Photo credit to Sylvia Dimayuga, Eric Gregory!
