30th anniversary announcement!
As Pokemon grows in popularity, our allocations continue to shrink. We are only getting enough to create 50 bundle deals. We will have a few more boxes extra but we will explain what we are going to do with those in this post.
With every single release we hear the common word "FAIRNESS".
Everyone wants an equal shot at product.
If we open at 11am and sell it on release day, we will have a massive line of people waiting over night and a lot of upset people who will be waiting in line for nothing. And a whole group of upset people who aren't able to show up. We don't like to upset people. We like to make people happy. So we're changing it up to offer an equal and fair opportunity for everyone.
Starting Friday and ending Sunday....
You will receive ONE ticket by coming into the shop and making a pokémon purchase for a minimum of $5 before tax. The limit is one ticket per person, per day, per transaction. So you can max out at 3 tickets for the weekend. You can even buy a gift card for $5 if you'd like. But if you're coming in anyway to buy Pokemon this weekend, we want to reward you with an opportunity to get the new product at retail price.
Once we close on Sunday we will go live and pull 50 tickets. The representatives are those 50 tickets will have an opportunity to purchase these bundles on Wednesday. We're going to make two rounds of phone calls. If no one answers the phone. Your ticket will be removed from the list and we will pull a new name. You also have two business days to pick up your bundle. If not you did not pick it up by Thursday night. We will choose another name and call them.
The first 30 tickets that we pull will get an exclusive pokémon gift bag. All 50 will get exclusive promotional items directly from pokemon.
Product will remain SEALED!
No clover rewards can be used on bundles or pokemon purchases this weekend. You can still gain points.
We will be getting a few extra knockout boxes and a few extra sticker collection cases. What we are going to do with those is open them up and sell the packs individually. But these packs will only be sold at retail price to kids after 3:00 p.m. on release day. Kids 15 and under. 2 pack limit. Must open in shop. Don't bring in your 1 year old to get packs for yourself. Lol
We hope that everyone sees fairness in this offer. We wish we had enough to do 1000 bundles but we are getting less and less with every release.
Thank you all for your support!
See y'all this weekend!

Good morning San Antonio!!
Vic here.
I wanted to make a post to share my thoughts and perspective on the current local hobby situation and the hobby as a whole.
I started my journey in this hobby when I was a little boy. One of my earliest memories was sitting at Golden corral off of military drive and zarzamora(Born and raised in SA) with my 3 friends and we ripped a box of 1994 Topps basketball. I'll never forget that day. That's what got me here. The hobby has definitely changed since I first started. The hobby has changed tremendously even since 10 years ago. It used to be about card collecting and fun. I used to do live videos and pull a manufactured patch of a no name guy and the whole chat would still get excited just to see a cool card. I remember when I would do live videos and people would get excited just to see a numbered card out of a pack. Card collecting was very different back then.
I remember those times so vividly....
Fast forward to today...
The "hobby" is deep in a corporate complex where wealthy people are able to buy a shop in the open market and rapidly expand their brands nationwide essentially stepping on the shops who started from the ground up and actually put the work in. The "hobby" has gone mainstream. Hundreds of athletes and celebrities are getting involved in opening up shops. Chain stores are popping up everywhere. While Mom and Pop shops are failing because they're losing the allocation battle.
3 Bought chain stores are now open in San Antonio. Not locally owned. What does this mean for us? Well I can confidently say no one's putting us out of business. But I will be as transparent as I can be. I have been advised by my accountant and my financial advisor that it is not wise to go through with the shop expansion that we were planning. Potential revenue that would drive the extra 2500 square feet is now in jeopardy and they warned that it was too much of a risk. Not to say that we can't grow the space later. Believe me, I want to so bad. We are just not there yet. Like I said, I'm no millionaire to just buy it and make it happen. Lol but I will continue to manifest the dream to give San Antonio the best shop it has ever seen and will ever see.
Let's get one thing clear, chain stores are NOT community. Chain stores are not LOCAL card shops. Chain stores open up for pure profit. Growth like this also leads to lack of true personal engagement with the community. They take the profits that they made off the locals and that money doesn't ever get pumped back into the city or the community. That local money is now corporate money and it's gone.
When I first opened, I started from scratch. I wasn't a millionaire jumping into this(I'm still nowhere near being a quarter of a millionaire lol). I didn't buy the shop. The truth is, I went broke. I remember a day 8 months in and we were struggling so hard. I had $150 in the bank and I got a phone call that my card declined. A distributor was trying to run my card for $15,000. I didn't know what to do. There was hardly any product on the shelf and I couldn't afford staff to help me. That's the struggle. That's the grind. That's building a business, not buying a business. I scratched and clawed my way to where we are right now because I never gave up on this city and I never gave up on the community that supported me. I gave it my all every single day.
Now look at Boomtown....
Fanatics partnership
Topps partnership
Upper deck partnership
Spurs partnership
Official sponsor for the San Antonio Missions
Donated over $6000 in school supplies at the Spurs back to school drive.
Sponsors of shows, schools, teams, and more!!
We have created a significant footprint in San Antonio and we are so proud of it.
Have we done it? Did we make it? Did we win?
As Kobe once said, "Jobs not finished. Job finished? I don't think so."
If you truly care about the community and local businesses, we are right here. Always will be. We're always about community and we will never expand our brand to become corporate chain stores. That's a choice. We care too much about the individual collector and customer. We always treat people like family because they are family to us. We are a community together and every ounce of support that you give us goes right back into YOUR city and YOUR community and YOUR schools.
I'm no special surprise guest. I'm just the owner. But I'm always willing to meet and shake hands with you every single day. Because Boomtown is LOCALLY owned. I live here. I'm from here. San Antonio is forever home.
Thank you all for your continued support. As we reach our 5th year in business, we will promise to always be who we are and we will work our asses off everyday to give you the best destination for all your card needs in town.
