August 8th 2026: NAGA North American Grappling Association Tournament, Austin, Tx.
Sal and Leo the Castillo Brothers went out to battle yesterday in stacked divisions! Sal placed 2nd in the Open Weight Division and 3rd in the Heavy Weight division! Leo placed 3rd in his Blue Belt debut & in the expert division in his age group. What a performance by both competitors, showcasing our brand of Jujitsu & Leo even doing the crab walk during one of his matches..a movement we do during the warm up part of the training!! Extremely proud of these two & grateful to have an amazing team to train with daily. If all goes as planned the Ronin311 crew will be back in Austin in October for the Tap Out Cancer tournament!
Thank you all for the continued support πŸ™

A Blue belt can challenge for their Purple belt at any time during training, unfortunately the ref was no where in sight to validate the promotion. Keep training πŸ’ͺ

July 18, 2026: Grappling Industries, San Antonio, Tx.
After 6 months of training, Matt took a major step in his Bjj journey by entering his first tournament yesterday. Matt left it all on the mats in 3 hard fought matches! Though we weren't able to make it onto the podium this time, we are extremely proud of the hard work Matt put in during the camp and his willingness to enter a tournament so early in his jujitsu journey. Great work Matt! Back to the mats & back to work!

May 30, 2026: Tap Cancer Out BJJ Open, San Antonio Tx.
Yesterday Kimmy & Sal traveled to San Antonio to compete for a great cause to raise money to help people fighting Cancer. We often hear & read about people disregarding participation & focusing on victory & medals but yesterday's competition was all about participation for something greater than personal glory and I for one am so proud of my students for doing their part in this cause. What makes yesterday's tournament more poignant is that yesterday one of my best mates from Australia announced that his lovely girlfriend was diagnosed with cancer. So I want to dedicate yesterday & every day moving forward to them as they start this battle.
Wishing you both strength, courage and love. We're with ya mate, from Texas to the Land down Under!

Athlete Focus: Kimmy
The right process matters. Often times we think if we make a decision everything will change & success will soon follow but that's not how it goes. Decisions without action are still unfulfilled dreams.
Rewind to Dec 13, 2023: Kimmy & her best friend drop in to the gym excited to do a trial class & proceeds to join the team the following day. After a few months of training Kimmy tells me she wants to compete so she signs up fo her first competition, dials in on her diet, adds cardio & weight training to supplement her Jujitsu & starts racking up the wins. The process mattered. A decision was made & action was taken & the vision became a reality. This is what it takes to succeed in everything. So proud of Kimmy for creating the life she wants & being part of our team.

April 18th, 2026 Grappling Industries in San Antonio, Tx: Another tournament in the books. This one didn't go the way we wanted but that's the way it goes. You win some..you lose some but you keep moving forward. A week before the competition Sal's original opponent dropped out and a Brown Belt stepped in. One look at his profile & we saw he is an active competitor & athlete so we knew it was going to be a solid test for Sal. While we weren't able to replicate last month's flawless performance Sal dialed in on the fitness aspect of his journey by focusing on diet & weight training & got under 200 lbs & the best shape he's been in so far & that's a victory in itself. Great work all around! Sal's already signed up for a tournament next month so back to work!
Those who don't take risks don't fail but they don't succeed either. Take the chance & build the life you dream about!!

A big thanks to everyone who participated in the camp & for the continued support πŸ’ͺ
