SCC Blackhawks Sports Shooting

Today is our second competition of the year and first competition on the road! Start time is 10 am at Otter Creek Sportsmen Gun Club in Cedar Rapids.

There have been some changes in our fall schedule. Here is the up to date schedule for our competitions this fall.

Every week the ICCAC sends out Athletes of the Week from the previous week's events. This week they chose 2 from the SCC Sports Shooting Team, Lily Syfert was one of them! Here's what they said about her.
"Lily Syfert – Southeastern – Freshman
Lily Syfert opened her collegiate career with the ICCAC’s top women’s performance for Southeastern, helping the Blackhawks earn a 451-430 victory over Northeast Iowa. Syfert led the women’s competition by breaking 89 of 100 targets. Her individual ladies title at the shoot helped set the tone for a strong season-opening performance by Southeastern as the Blackhawks collected multiple top finishes and came away with the team victory."

"Roen Bailey – Southeastern – Freshman
Roen Bailey made an immediate impact in his collegiate debut for Southeastern, capturing first place in the men’s competition while helping the Blackhawks earn a 451-430 victory over Northeast Iowa. Bailey broke 97 of 100 targets, missing just three throughout the competition in an impressive opening performance. He added another top-three finish in doubles, breaking 40 of 50 targets to place third. Between the two events, Bailey connected on 137 of 150 targets, a 91.3% success rate, to put together a strong all-around showing in his first collegiate competition."

It was a great day for breaking targets and the scores reflect it! Scc won over all against Northeast Iowa Community College 451/500-430/500
In ladies Lily Syfert placed 1st with a 89/100 and Haylee Farmer placed 3rd with 73/100 (her personal best).
In mens Roen Bailey placed 1st with a 97/100 and Brayden Roscum placed 2nd with 93/100.
In doubles Brayden placed first with 48/50 and Roen placed 3rd with a 40/50.
Way to go Blackhawks!

The team prepares for our first competition of the year, this Saturday Aug. 29 at Tri-State Gun Club.
We also need volunteers to help score and load trap houses. If you can help, please message coaches Tim Weaver or Nicole Morris and we will get you more details.
