Recap for SS Race #3. We signed up just for some passing practice. We have a lot of new drivers that moved up and some that are running slower speeds so we knew we needed to get more comfortable with that. Dad signed us up since there was no pressure, not running for points, just simple practice with a full field of cars. Boy was it a cluster and the most annoying race we have ever ran. 45 cautions later the race timed out since the time limit is only 20 minutes. We only ran 3 consistent laps without a caution and only 10 laps for the entire race. Passing practice never happened. We went 5th to 3rd as if that matters. Next time I think after caution 10 I’ll park and take a nap in the scale house 🤪

Happy Father’s Day to the best dad. My crew chief, my personal bank, my hauler driver, my tire changer, my everything! Thank you for all you do for me dad and huge congratulations on your P8 tonight with Riley Herbst. As a present I brought home two podiums this weekend and more importantly 2 cars with no broken parts! 😜

What a weekend. We landed a podium P2 in both Junior Honda and Junior 160. Got to be walked out for driver introductions by my buddies who are also my mentors, driving coaches, and favorite supporters. Thank you to all the sponsors who keep supporting us and making my dreams come true!

This weekend was nothing short of what we call a great weekend. Both cars were super fast and we were consistent.

Junior Honda
Heat Race 2nd to 2nd
A main 4th to 2nd
We were a little slow in the heat but found our speed in the A main and were catching the leader until we got hung up in some lap traffic that slowed us down a tiny bit. Overall P2 was a good day for this car and for a full field.

Junior 160
Heat Race 4th to 2nd
A Main 2nd to 2nd
This one was a bit of a gut punch. We were super fast and leading when one of our buddies made a mistake and cut down to early taking us out. Unfortunately we had not taught our driver to stop and the yellow never got thrown since all cars regained speed and continued on the track leaving us at the rear and keeping those cars that were the cause from being penalized. Lesson learned on our part for the future. We were still able to drive from the back of the field back up to 2nd where we were short maybe 2ft from the win.

This is what Dixie Shootout Series looks like. It’s the highs and the lows and the pure exhaustion from leaving your whole heart out there and not sparing an ounce of energy on each lap. The road was hard but we finally went to Dixie and put both cars into the A main. During our B main we had a car catch on fire on track right in front of us. Our shield and car were covered in soot and fire extinguisher debris and I thought our judgement would be crowded with some fear after watching that but when we went back green he took off like a rocket 🚀.We also walked away with top 5’s in both cars in the A main. We couldn’t be more proud of our driver. He made some mistakes and tapped wheels while passing with his buddy Bos Racing during the heat and spent the better part of the day beating hisself up until he was just exhausted and fell asleep in the trailer. We didn’t bring home a 🐊 but that’s ok we brought home what we came for. Confidence, experience racing against some of the best national drivers, and 2 top 5’s that mean everything to us and prove that we have made a monster improvement in the past 6 months. Big thank you to Kerry Dowdell for keeping our cars fast and all the hard work this weekend. Jennifer Dowdell for making sure our car is always numbered! Mawmaw Bonnie Sides and Pawpaw Jimmy Sides for making the trip with us and helping out with baby sister and my dog Guss. Last night was a last minute decision to race since our Daytona race was rescheduled. Clearly we don’t know what to do with a weekend without racing. Big thank you to papa Joe Restivo who pulled the trailer and did all the heavy lifting. We love you so much! Also to Kyle Beattie for making adjustments to the car as needed.

Heat Race: P3-P1 🏁
A main: P3-P2

We ran a great race but our buddy Wyatt Parsley Racing was fast and consistent out there so congrats to him. We will keep getting out there and getting better! Also made a bet with mom that if I podium I won’t have to wash my tires after the race but she does. So here is the photo for proof that she held up her end of the bargain.
