We’re leveling up at SJJ. 🥋🔥

We had some big promotions this week, and our youth classes are filling up with motivated kids who are putting in the work and growing every time they step on the mats.

What makes this week especially meaningful to me is that some of these kids literally walked through our doors just a week after I opened Saline Jiu-Jitsu, and they’re still here, still learning, still helping to make this place what it is today! I’ve had the privilege of watching them grow, not just as Jiu-Jitsu students, but as young people.

The belts are a great way to mark progress, but what matters to me more is what they’re learning along the way: confidence, discipline, resilience, accountability, and how to keep working when things get difficult.

Those lessons go far beyond the mats. They help prepare these kids to face challenges, make good decisions, find their own way in the world, and pursue their own happiness.

Proud of these kids. Proud of what we’re building at Saline Jiu-Jitsu.

And we’re just getting started. 🥋🔥

Turned 50 today and got to spend part of it exactly where I wanted to be, on the mats with this crew!!

I celebrated with 50 minutes straight rolling with the gang, made even better bc my coach Todd Williams, surprised me by dropping in to help me keep the young bucks honest and share the moment with us!

And apparently we’re already recruiting the next generation, a future grappler in my arms, Ms. Olivia Grace!!! ❤️ 💙 💜

Couldn’t ask for a better group of people to share the mats with. What a day!

🧘 We are pleased to announce the official launch of our full Inner Peace Yoga (IPY) class schedule! 🧘

The response to our pilot program has exceeded all of our expectations. We have been incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm, encouragement, and positive feedback from everyone who has stepped onto the mat with us.

Thank you for bringing such wonderful energy to each class... and only a little bit of stretching-related groaning. 😉

SJJ has another BLUE BELT!!!!!!!! Today, Malachi Zehnder earned his promotion to blue!
Malachi's skills on the mat have evolved tremendously since the first day he walked onto the mats at Saline Jiu-Jitsu. His work ethic, attitude, and technical ability have grown with every class, and it's been a privilege to watch that development.

What stands out most is the respect he has earned from everyone he trains with. He's the kind of teammate who makes the room better simply by being in it, and that matters just as much as what happens during a roll.

There are no shortcuts to a meaningful promotion. A blue belt should represent skill, consistency, character, humility and the ability to carry yourself well both on and off the mats. Malachi has demonstrated those qualities over and over again.

Congratulations, Malachi. You earned every bit of this. Wear that blue belt with pride. but remember, this is only the beginning! 🥋💙 💯 🔥

What an amazing day at Saline Jiu-Jitsu!
Today we promoted two new blue belts who have worked incredibly hard to earn this moment: Nate Lunsford and John-Mark Zehnder!!!!

These two have shown exceptional commitment to their training. They've both spent countless hours repping, refining, learning, and working. They're outstanding training partners who are invested not only in their own progress, but in the success and growth of everyone around them. They have pushed through challenges, stayed consistent, and earned every bit of what happened today.

As a coach—and as a person—one of the greatest privileges I've experienced is watching people discover in themselves and what they're truly capable of through this art we call Jiu-Jitsu.

Congratulations, you two. I can say with complete confidence that you represent Saline Jiu-Jitsu, the art, and yourselves in a way that makes me incredibly proud.

Keep rolling, boys. This is not the finish line—it's the beginning. The road ahead is endless, and it's paved with possibility, growth, and countless opportunities to become even better than you are today.

Our very first class was a wonderful success, and Yev did an amazing job creating a welcoming, relaxing environment for everyone who attended. Our first participants did great and we're looking forward to seeing more people join us and take advantage of this opportunity.

Inner Peace Yoga is open to everyone—not just Saline Jiu-Jitsu members. Whether you're brand new to yoga or have years of experience, you're welcome to join us.

Whether you're a jiu-jitsu practitioner looking to improve mobility and recovery, an athlete wanting better movement and balance, or simply someone interested in feeling and moving better, this program is designed to be welcoming, practical, and beginner-friendly.

To gauge community interest, we're launching a FREE 30-Day Pilot Program open to all Saline Jiu-Jitsu members, as well as their friends and family.

The pilot program will be limited, and we're currently looking to fill a few more spots before announcing our official launch date.

Congratulations to Jasmin Busch on earning her first stripe and Malachi Zehnder on earning his 4th stripe!

Different milestones, same commitment. Both have put in the time, effort, and consistency required to keep moving forward on the mats, and it shows.

A special shout-out to Eddie on earning his first stripe as well! (Not pictured.)

These stripes represent more than just time spent training. They reflect perseverance, a willingness to learn, and the decision to keep showing up even on the days when progress feels slow. That's how growth happens.

We're proud to have all three of these students as part of the Saline Jiu-Jitsu team.
