The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from South Salem Football, is Kellen Bowman.

Kellen is a senior and plays quarterback for the Saxons. Kellen opened the season with two remarkable performances. In Game 1, he completed 41 of 47 passes for 575 yards, a performance that ranks in the top 5 in Oregon high school history, and eight total touchdowns as he led South to a record breaking 76-50 win over Forest Grove. His 41 completions were the second most in a game in school history and he tied his own school record for touchdowns in a game. In Week 2, he went 29-for-35 for 470 yards and six touchdowns in just one half of play as the Saxson's defeated Southridge.

Voted as team captain by his teammates, Kellen is leading the state in passing.

This is Kellen's second Athlete of the year honor, having also received recognition as a junior.

The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from South Salem Football, is Ben Greer.

Ben, a senior, is a receiver for the Saxons who are 2-0 on the season. After a state-record 117 catches last season, Ben has picked up right where he left off. He opened Week 1 with 14 catches for 209 yards and three touchdowns, then added 11 catches for 193 yards and two touchdowns in Week 2. Even with defenses building their game plans around stopping him, Ben has been spectacular. A team captain, he sets the tone for the Saxons with his play and leadership.

This is Ben's second Athlete of the year honor, having also received recognition as a junior.

Head coach Josh Vanlue says, "A team captain, he sets the tone for the 3–0 Saxons with his play and leadership."
