🚨 Big News for Missouri CCW Holders! 🚨
As of May 23, 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice now recognizes valid Missouri Concealed Carry Permits as an exemption from the FBI NICS background check during firearm purchases. 🙌
Here’s what that means for you:
✅ You still fill out a Form 4473 when buying a firearm
✅ But we no longer need to submit your info to the FBI for a background check
✅ This applies only if you have a current, valid Missouri CCW permit
This change speeds up the buying process and keeps your info out of the federal background check system. 🛒💨
FAQs:
❓ What if my CCW Permit or Certificate is expired?
If you took your class with us, we keep records for 4 years. We can reissue your certificate for a $20 replacement fee — no need to retake the course!
❓ It’s been over 4 years — now what?
You’ll likely need to retake the class. Contact us to check your status.
❓ I usually get delayed when buying a gun — will this still happen?
Nope! With a valid Missouri CCW, we can transfer the firearm on the spot — no delay, no NICS check.
❓ Is this DOJ policy legit?
Absolutely. We’ve received written and verbal confirmation from the St. Louis ATF office.
❓ Can I use an out-of-state CCW?
Right now, only Missouri residents with Missouri permits qualify. We’re watching for updates!
❓ I’m 19 with a CCW — can I now buy a handgun?
Sorry, federal law still requires you to be 21 to purchase a handgun from a licensed dealer.
