𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆, 𝑪𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝑬𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅! ⚽️

The Highland Park Athletic Department is excited to announce Kevin Eberhard as Highland Park’s new Boys’ Head Soccer Coach, promoted from the Assistant Varsity position. Coach Eberhard brings strong familiarity with the program, polished leadership qualities in communication and program organization, and a deep knowledge of the game of soccer. 

Eberhard, originally from Austria, resides in St. Paul with his family. He teaches middle school German at the German Immersion School and played semi-professionally in Austria before continuing to compete in Twin Cities adult leagues. He started coaching in 2018; he has coached at both the middle school and high school levels, most recently he served as the lead varsity assistant and C-team head coach for the Scots. Outside of soccer, he enjoys reading, cooking, hiking, and snowboarding, and travels to Austria with his wife and son to visit family.

We are excited for the upcoming season and the positive leadership that Coach Eberhard will bring to the soccer pitch this season and beyond.

Congratulations to Joaquin Lechuga on being named the Minnesota Vikings’ nominee for the 2026 NFL Latino Youth Honors!!

The NFL Latino Youth Honors recognizes outstanding high school tackle and flag football student-athletes from across the country, highlighting their work on the field and in the classroom.

Each NFL team selects one male and one female student-athlete to represent its organization.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of former Highland Park Boys Basketball Coach Ron Causton.

Ron was inducted into the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2012.

We’re officially ONE month away from the start of fall sports!!

The district changed the registration process over to the Bound platform starting this school year. Online registration must be completed before you can participate. Please complete the checklist below before Monday, August 17th:

✅ Academically Eligible
✅ Complete the online registration form
✅ 2026-2027 MSHSL Eligibility Brochure
✅ 2026-2027 MSHSL Health Questionnaire
✅ Sports Physical is up-to-date (good for 3 years)
✅ Pay Sports Fee

If you need a new sports physical this school year, the Highland Health Start Clinic is offering them over the summer through July 23. Check out slide 3 for more information. CVS Minute-Clinics also offer sports physicals.

𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆, 𝑪𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝑵𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒐𝒏! 🎾

Jeff Norton will be the next head coach of our Girls Tennis Program.

Jeff, a Saint Paul native, played tennis at St. Paul Academy and Babson College. He began his coaching career before he was in high school, giving individual tennis lessons to players ranging in age from 5 to 75 years old. After retiring from the corporate finance world in 2016, he resumed his tennis career as a high school coach, working with both boys and girls Junior Varsity and Varsity teams.

Outside of tennis, Jeff enjoys spending time with his three grandsons, who are showing an aptitude for tennis, and completing adventures like hiking the 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail with his wife.  

Girls Tennis Players: there will be a preseason meeting on Tuesday, June 30 at 5:00 p.m. at the Highland Tennis Courts. Meet Coach Norton as he shares a preview of the upcoming season and what to expect this fall. Players are encouraged to bring their racquets and stay for open tennis following the meeting.

𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐜𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐧, 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤’𝐬 𝐄𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫!

Athletic Director McCann has been an educator with Saint Paul Public Schools since 2013, serving as a Teacher, Coach, Driver Education Instructor, and Athletic Director.

He transitioned into the Athletic Director role at St. Paul Washington Tech in 2021 after teaching and coaching at Highland Park for eight years, where he held a variety of middle school and high school coaching positions.

After five wonderful years as Athletic Director at Washington, McCann is excited to return to Highland Park Sr. to serve as the Athletic Director.

Education-based athletics have played a significant role in shaping McCann’s life; he is thankful for the memories with teammates and lifelong lessons from coaches.

AD McCann is passionate about providing student-athletes with experiences that promote work ethic, resilience, leadership, and teamwork. He looks forward to connecting with students, coaches & staff, families, and the overall HP community.

This school year marked Pat Auran’s final year as Athletic Director. Pat’s career at Highland spanned 30 years, including the last 10 years serving as Athletic Director.

During his tenure as Athletic Director, Highland Park teams won:

5 State Championships
21 Section Championships
94 Conference Championships

His leadership and dedication to Highland Park athletics have left a lasting impact on countless student-athletes, coaches, parents, and members of the Highland community.

We wish Pat a long, happy, and well-deserved retirement!! Thank you for your years of service and commitment to Highland Park. You will be greatly missed!!

Mo Bullock will be the next Head Coach of our Girls Basketball program.

Coach Bullock brings a strong background of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. As a former collegiate student-athlete, he brings a deep passion for teaching the game and a positive approach that embraces athletes of all skill levels. His leadership, communication, and commitment to student-athlete development will be a tremendous asset to our program.

HPSH Girls Basketball have started summer practices and will be held Tuesdays (noon-2pm) and Thursdays (10am-noon) in the gym.
