Congratulations to Isshinryu’s newest Ni-Dan (2nd-degree Black-Belt), Lucas Grant! Lucas has been training diligently for 15-years and helps to mentor many of our young students here at Zen Martial Arts. The future of Isshinryu karate is looking very bright!

At Zen Martial Arts, the safety of our students is our highest responsibility.

Many families know that all of our instructors complete fingerprint-based background checks through the California DOJ and FBI. What many don't realize is that, as a registered Custodian of Records, our dojo also receives subsequent arrest notifications through the DOJ's ongoing monitoring program.

That means our screening process doesn't stop after the initial background check. If a staff member or volunteer is arrested for a qualifying offense in the future, we can be notified and take immediate action when appropriate.

This is one of the behind-the-scenes steps we take to create a safe, professional training environment for every child and family who walks through our doors.

I recently completed my latest Custodian of Records training and certification to ensure we remain compliant with all DOJ and CJIS requirements.
