One of our favorite SAM racers, Gerald Meux, graces the cover of July's Model Aviation magazine. Can we still call him just a SAM racer with all the different races where he is a regular? Aside from being a great racer and RC pilot, Gerald is also one of the most down to earth people on and off the flying field. Congratulations Gerald!

Big news for Sacramento Area Modelers!

As of today, SAM has received official authorization from the FAA and Mather Air Traffic Control Tower to fly up to 1,200 feet AGL at our flying fieldโ€”a privilege granted to very few model aviation clubs.

This achievement reflects the trust placed in our club, and it's now up to all of us to protect it by flying responsibly. Remember: never exceed 1,200 feet AGL, and immediately descend to 300 feet or below whenever a full-size aircraft is nearby. Following these rules is essential to keeping this authorization.

A huge thank you to AMA District X Vice President Jr Schiager for the countless hours, dedication, and persistence it took to make this happen. Your hard work has created an incredible opportunity for our club, and we truly appreciate everything you've done.

Let's all do our part to protect this privilege for years to come.

๐Ÿ Turn & Burn 2026 Is in the Books! ๐Ÿ

What a fantastic weekend of racing at the Sacramento Area Modelers field! While temperatures climbed into the mid-90s, the action on the course was even hotter. Pilots from across the region brought their best warbirds, razor-sharp turns, and incredible speed, making for two days of exciting competition, close racing, and great camaraderie.

A huge thank you goes out to all of our pilots, volunteers, race officials, sponsors, and spectators who helped make this year's Turn & Burn Warbird Pylon Race a success. Your support and enthusiasm are what keep this event growing year after year.

๐Ÿ† Congratulations to our 2026 Class Champions! ๐Ÿ†

๐Ÿฅ‰ Bronze Class Champion: Joe S.
๐Ÿฅˆ Silver Class Champion: George R.

These pilots earned their victories through consistent flying, smooth pylon turns, and outstanding performances throughout the weekend. Congratulations on a job well done!

We'd also like to thank our sponsors for their generous support and everyone who joined us for the weekend. We hope to see you all back at the field on September 12 & 13 for the final fast-paced warbird race of the S.A.M. series YS - Valley of Speed IV.
