Sometime in 2019 or 2020, my father in law bought this rifle without letting me know. He wanted a 17hmr so bad that he doesn't care about brands. I was surprised to know after he bought it and helped him mounted the scope to it. It shoots very well. But he rarely had shot any squirrels with it yet.
Due to his health, he stopped going out and handed down this rifle and 2 other fi****ms to me. Transferred in 2023 if I remember correctly. After I got the rifle, I kinda messed with it a bit and wanted the rifle to look like my CZ and BrowningTBolt. Somehow it's a pain in the *ss trying to find the right part for the scope mounting. I was preferring the picatinny Rail but no way anything would fit. So that cheap dovetail rings Somehow made it hard to line up the scope when mounting. I decided to not mess with it and bought myself the CZ457 American rifle that came with 2 barrels. Took that one out for 2 years of hunting and was happy with it.
Earlier this month as I noticed that the season is around the corner. I decided to get back on it and figure something out. Took it out the other day and found out something isn't right. I had to dial my scope all the way to the left to its limit. I was pi**ed off a bit but I finally did the right thing. Replaced the dovetail rings and measured it correctly and made the mount looks so easy. The outcome was fantastic and is ready to test again.
What I learned from it was to be more humble and do it the right way... But it would have been way easier if there's a part designed specifically for the rifle. I'm glad I found the right way to it and finally getting to do some shooting soon. As we are couple weeks away from opening. At the same time, am very happy to own this and few other great fi****ms...
If anyone wants to purchase a firearm, make sure you know what you doing so you don't waste your time and money on something that doesn't have the parts you need...
