✨ Introducing the CVOTC Mentor Program ✨

We are excited to roll out something brand new this season: the CVOTC Mentor Program

This program is designed to help people who are just starting out in observed trials find their rhythm, build confidence, and have an exceptional first experience. The goal is simple: help new riders enjoy the sport so much that they want to continue, improve, and thrive.

This program is not just for kids. It is for youth riders, adult beginners, and anyone new to trials who could use a little guidance and encouragement.

We are already excited to welcome several new families and new adult riders who are planning to start this year, and the Mentor Program is one of the ways we are making sure they feel supported from day one.

A Mentor is a more experienced CVOTC rider who volunteers to accompany a new rider throughout the entire competition. Mentors do not compete that day. Their attention is fully on the new rider, helping explain sections, calm nerves, answer questions, and make the event feel supportive instead of overwhelming.

For new riders signing up in Novice classes, Leslie will reach out ahead of the event to see if they would like to be paired with a Mentor for the day. Participation is completely optional, and if you choose to take part, the connection will be prearranged so you do not have to figure anything out on event day.

💛 Why volunteer?
You get to directly help grow the sport.
You get to give someone a great first impression of trials.
You probably remember what it felt like to be new.
And honestly, it is incredibly rewarding.

Mentors are 100% volunteers, and the commitment is flexible. You do not have to help at every event. Even volunteering for just one event can make a big difference.

We have a lot of events this year, and skipping one competition to help someone new advance in the sport is a pretty worthy trade-off.

👉 If you are interested in volunteering as a Mentor, please reach out to Leslie and let her know.

Let’s keep CVOTC welcoming, supportive, and growing, one rider at a time. 💪✨

Annual Meeting Announcement

📣 Come Ride, Eat, and Hang Out at our Annual Meeting at Rusty’s on Sunday, Feb 22nd.

We’re getting together at Rusty Lacy’s place in Axton, VA for our annual meeting + ride and BBQ, and we’d love to see everyone there.

Plan for the day:
🏍️ Ride begins at 10:00 AM
🍔 BBQ at 1:30 (Generously hosted by the Lacy’s at “the big house” - and Rusty’s grill does not disappoint)
🗣️ Meeting at 2:30 — done by around 4:00

This is the meeting where we talk about what’s coming in 2026, discuss potential rule tweaks, and hear what members think. If you’ve ever had an opinion about how we do things, this is the time to share it.

We’ll also be handing out 2025 Championship trophies, brought to you this year by none other than our resident artist, Joe Palrang. (thanks Joe!)

Mostly, it’s just a good day to ride, eat, catch up, and spend time with your CVOTC peeps.

Hope you can make it.
