Road/parking lot resurfacing work at ERP continues. Parking lot closest to disc golf course is repaved (not re-striped yet). AC Lavender Drive (road through park from Fouts Rd to Eves Rd) is actively being ground up to resurface. Use caution driving through park. Work should be done for the day by time for league today, but be careful.

Active yellowjacket nest near 9's basket (slightly uphill toward 16/18 at about 2:30 if facing practice basket from 9's basket). Will be spraying before league, but still be aware.

Sign-in will begin between 4:30 and 4:45 at the picnic tables behind kiosk near the course.

TARGET CUTOFF TIME FOR SIGN-IN IS 5:30 FOR AUGUST.

We play rain or shine unless there's lightning nearby or dangerously high winds. If it's storming at start time we will delay until the storm is over, or until there wouldn't be enough daylight left to finish. If it's raining during sign-in, it will move to the pavilion by the pond, adjacent to the parking area.

No need to do any registration or sign-up in advance -- just show up and play. Check in on UDisc using the "Events" tab. If you don't already have a UDisc account, please create one ahead of time. Until late April, and after mid September, we play the white (short) tees weekly. Beginning in April and until September, the layout rotates between white (short) and black (long) tees, playing white tees on the first and third Monday of each month, and the black tees on the second and fourth. After September 8 this year, we will play white (short) tees only for the reset of the season. Start time varies with length of days through the season -- posted time on schedule is sign-in cutoff time.

What's Happening With the Fire Station?

It's still going to happen

Design work has been completed and the design has been approved by the city's Design Review Board, at the regular DRB monthly meeting in July. The city is now soliciting bids for construction contracts. Companies have until noon on Monday, August 17, to submit an intent to bid notice, with bids due on Tuesday, Aug 25 @ 1:30 PM

But not for a while

Once the bids are received, there will be a process of reviewing bids, downselecting bidders, negotiation, etc. According to the most recent information on the city's procurement system, the anticipated award date is October 30, 2026. Construction for Fire Station 27 is now expected to begin in December 2026 or January of 2027. This is approximately one to two months earlier than the previously anticipated start date of February 2027. Construction is expected to take 420 days (i.e., approximately 1 year and 2 months), putting completion in the February to April n 2028.

What will happen to the disc golf course?

The city has contracted with an experienced course designer to redesign and reconfigure the affected areas. The RDGC and the RRPD are working with the course designer to make the new version of ERP the best it can be. Holes 3, 4, and 5 in their current form will have to be changed or relocated; once construction starts, these holes will be closed, and if necessary temporary holes will added outside the construction area. Some parts of the area affected by construction may become available for disc golf use again once construction activities are complete.

The city has also committed to making other improvements. As a first step, the city has ordered 18 new baskets from Innova, expected to be delivered in September 2026.

The City of Roswell, Georgia Government will begin resurfacing improvements at East Roswell Park on Monday, August 10, as part of the City's voter-approved 2022 Bond Referendum and Roswell's 2026 Resurfacing Program.

A week late with this post, but there's been a lot going on. Last Wednesday, we completed another successful youth disc golf camp at East Roswell Park. The camp has been running for approximately 20 years now, since a year or so after the course was established -- I've been leading it for the last 16 or so. The Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs department has made it possible for us to share our enjoyment of the sport with 20 or so 8 to 15 year old kids each year. The camp typically runs for 3 days, Monday through Wednesday, 9 am to noon each day, usually in early July.

This year we had 18 campers, including 4-5 who were returning from previous years. Everyone seemed to enjoy it or so they said. The camp is for any experience/ability level -- some kids show up with a full bag of discs on Monday, while typically there are others who have literally never played. All campers get a set of three discs (driver, midrange, and putter), a bag, and a towel included in their registration -- thanks to Innova Discs for their ongoing support with discounted pricing on the discs.

Thanks also to our club liaison with the RRPD, Craig Fuller, for his assistance with getting the camp set up in the city's systems and helping with related logististics. The RRPD staffer we had helping this year, Hudson Brookshire, went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great experience.

The camp wouldn't happen without the help of volunteer adult leaders each year -- there's no way we could manage 20 kids without their help. This year, we had help from:
