Why did we choose the name Pillar?
It probably isn’t something you’ve ever thought about.
But the name Pillar was born during a pretty strange time in our lives.
COVID had shut down the gyms. Both gyms had different names. We were sitting around a table trying to figure out how to bring everything together and, honestly, trying to figure out what the heck came next.
So we started doing what made sense at the time…
We went LIVE.
Every. Single. Day.
Free workouts. From our living rooms, garages, gyms… wherever we could make it work.
There was a lot of working out.
There was a LOT of laughing.
And probably a few moments where we questioned whether anyone was actually still watching. 😂
But people showed up.
Day after day.
Not just to work out, but to see familiar faces. To laugh. To have something to look forward to. To feel a little less alone during a time when so much felt uncertain.
And somewhere in the middle of all of that, we realized something.
The community had become a pillar.
Something people could lean on.
Something that helped hold people up when life felt pretty heavy.
And we knew that was more than a name for what we were doing at the time.
It was who we wanted to be.
A place where people feel supported.
A place where people belong.
A place where people are encouraged to keep going.
A place that helps people discover what they’re capable of.
That’s still what Pillar means to us today.
The workouts have changed.
The building has changed.
The sports have grown.
The community has grown.
But the reason behind the name hasn’t changed.
We want to be a Pillar in people’s lives.
And hopefully, when you walk through our doors, you feel a little stronger when you walk back out.
Not just physically.
In every way that matters.
That’s Pillar. 💜
