Selkirk Endurance Ride Cancelled

We’re sorry to share that the Selkirk Endurance Ride, scheduled for August 22, has been cancelled due to ongoing unhealthy air quality.

After consulting with the ride veterinarians, Ride Manager Arielle Blume made the difficult decision to cancel. With air quality expected to remain unhealthy, there simply isn’t enough time for horses’ lungs to adequately recover before the ride.

The health and safety of our horses, riders, volunteers, and veterinary team comes first.

All current entries will be refunded.

Arielle plans to bring Selkirk back next year, with 2027 dates to be announced.

Thank you to everyone who registered, volunteered, planned to attend, or helped prepare for this year’s ride. We’re disappointed not to see you at Selkirk this August, but we look forward to hitting the trails together next year.

Thinking about registering? Please read this post for updates! We'd love to have you AND if for some reason the event is cancelled for smoke conditions you will receive a full refund.

We've been closely monitoring conditions for the Selkirk Distance Derby on August 22. At this time, the ride is still planned to move forward as scheduled. The trails are not currently affected by the fires, and we're staying in close contact with the appropriate agencies while monitoring smoke conditions. As always, the safety of our riders, volunteers, horses, and the surrounding community will guide any decisions.

If you're planning to join us, we'd love to know! Registering early helps the ride manager plan for veterinary coverage, meals, volunteers, and other event logistics. It also gives us a clearer picture of participation as we continue monitoring conditions.

If circumstances change and the ride cannot be held safely, all ride registrations will be fully refunded.

We'll continue to share updates as they become available. In the meantime, we're hoping for cooler weather, continued progress on fire containment, and the opportunity to gather for a wonderful weekend of riding.

At long last, photos from Don't Fence Me In are now available!

There are three galleries in this first batch, comprising about 95% of the photos from out on trail. I'll post a second batch soon covering ride camp (I got photos of a few horses before the rainbow faded) and the 50s on their last loop.

Considering how expensive everything has gotten this year, for the first time ever I'm running a sale on ride photos. In celebration of Father's Day, if your purchase exceeds $20, use code DADS2026 for 15% off digital downloads from 2026 rides. The sale ends July 31st, and I'm working towards getting Trout Lake and DITR posted before then.

(Sale terms: $20 cart subtotal before tax or shipping. Discount applies to digital downloads only from 2026 rides, but the $20 threshold can be reached with any product. Physical products do not qualify for the discount, such as prints, canvas wraps, or souvenirs.)

Hello again EDRA members!

You really stepped up to the request for trailer drivers a couple weeks ago. Thank you! However, one additional (and very short) route is in need of a driver. Here are the details:

Sunday, June 28: One driver is needed to take the EDRA trailer and empty water tank from Roslyn ride camp to Deliene Sellers home in Ellensburg. This is 32 mile (45 minute drive) one way. Easy parking upon arrival and help on the ground getting the tank out. The water tank fits in a shortbed truck very easily.

If someone is interested in doing this please contact Deliene Sellers via phone/text/email st 425-417-9492 or [email protected].

Thank you for your help!
