Well… at this point, we’re pretty sure Mother Nature has a tee time of her own. ☔️⛳️

Viera East Golf Club is CLOSED TODAY due to the continued rain and the amount of standing water throughout the course. With the off-and-on showers continuing, conditions simply aren’t suitable for play.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding, and we’ll keep you updated as conditions improve. In the meantime, our golfers may need to trade the clubs for rain boots today! 🌧️👢

At 90 years old, Dr. Kenneth McClure reached an extraordinary milestone at Viera East Golf Club....his 400th round of golf at or better than his age.

Mother Nature has decided to keep the rain coming on and off today, and with the amount of water the course has already taken on, Viera East Golf Club is officially closed for the remainder of the day.

We know… shocking. Rain + golf course = not exactly the winning combination we were hoping for today. ☔️😂

At 90 years young, Dr. Kenneth McClure shot his 400th round at or better than his age 👏🏼

Four. Hundred. Rounds.

He shot an 88.

And his good friend, Don is proud to witness it go down!

That is seriously impressive + such a great example of why golf truly is a game for a lifetime.

Congratulations, Dr. McClure 🎉⛳️

🌧️ When Mother Nature Says “Cart Path Only”… and Then Takes Away the Cart Path! ⛳️😂

Viera East has received a significant amount of rain, and unfortunately, the course has reached the point where it simply needs time to drain and recover.

While a little rain is great for the grass, too much water saturates the soil, leaving fairways, greens, and cart paths unable to properly drain. Allowing play in these conditions can cause serious turf damage from carts and foot traffic, create deep ruts and compaction, and lead to longer-term course conditions that take much more time to repair.

So while we know our golfers would probably play in rain boots if we let them 😉, the course is closed today to protect the turf and keep everyone safe.

Our maintenance team will continue monitoring conditions and working to get Viera East back into playing shape as soon as Mother Nature gives us a break.

I finally understand why golf becomes so damn addicting. Between divorce mediation, emotional curveballs + learning to slow the eff down, golf has become where I go to find peace, practice emotional discipline +occasionally lose my sh*t.
