🎶 **Workshop Announcement!** 🎶

Excited to share we are partnering with to bring you a unique musical experience led by Zimbabwean master musician Othnell Mangoma Moyo! 🇿🇼✨

🌍 **Discover the Chitende:**
A single-stringed, gourd-resonated musical bow from Zimbabwe, closely related to the berimbau used in capoeira music. If you love the berimbau, you’ll be amazed by the connections and rhythm of the chitende!

🎵 **What you’ll learn:**
Participants will learn to play and sing one song on the chitende. No prior experience needed—just a passion for music and discovery!

🎯 **Bring your berimbau:**
If you own one, bring it along! Extras are welcome to share with others, and loaner instruments will be provided for those without one.

💵 **Sliding scale fee:**
$10-$25 (Cash, or Venmo , Iara from comexpressão)
*100% of proceeds go to Mangoma.*

🌞 Summer Vibes are Here! 🌞

We’re adding a new class time to our weekly schedule! Join our Capoeira Angola class outside in the park, every Thursday from 6:15-7:45pm, for an energizing mix of movement and music. Rain or shine, we’ve got you covered with a backup indoor location. Beginners welcome—come move, play, sing and soak up the sunshine with our vibrant community.

It’s that time of year when the days get cooler and the sun sets a bit earlier, which means it’s time for our backyard park classes to head indoors. Starting tonight 10/16, we’re excited to host our Monday classes at the South Wedge Mission, located at 125 Caroline St. in Rochester. You’re invited to join us in this beautiful space from 6:15-7:45pm for music and mindful movement. If you're not familiar, the is much more than a church, they are growing "community of communities" that brings together folks committed to the arts, spirituality and justice. SWM's values and community align well with those of our group and we believe you will find the space to be open, warm and inviting. Be sure to check them out and learn more about the other community groups that share this collaborative space!

Hello Summer! Our backyard park classes have returned for the season, staring tomorrow 6/5. Meet us outdoors on Mondays from 6:30-7:45pm at Humboldt Recreation Center on Atlantic Avenue. DM for more info and to sign up.

We’re back at starting tonight, 2/1, and every Wednesday at 6:30pm with our Intro to Capoeira class. Come learn the basics of this unique afro-diasporic art form while getting a fun workout in!

We’re excited to welcome Special Guests: Mestra Jerusa (Portugal) and Professor Kmelo (Toronto) of Grupo União na Capoeira .canada for our first roda of the year!
