We are proud to share that Monroe County will recognize our founder, Nydia Padilla-Rodriguez, for her contributions, leadership, service, and commitment to our community during the Monroe County Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration & Recognition Ceremony.

For 45 years, Nydia’s vision and dedication have been at the heart of Borinquen Dance Theatre. Through dance, culture, education, and mentorship, she has touched the lives of generations of young people and families while helping to celebrate and preserve the richness of Puerto Rican and Latino culture in our community.

We invite friends and supporters to join us as Monroe County recognizes Nydia and other community leaders whose service has made a meaningful impact.

Last night we gathered with Borinquen Dance Alum, friends and family. Checkout this throwback pic and BDT's performances in its first and second year of existence. Amazing to see we performed as far away as Albany that first year. Except for the pandemic that pace has never let up. Thank you Rochester and the dancers and artist we have collaborated with for 45 years, we are forever grateful.
