Statuary Park: Rochester's example of 'pave paradise, put up a parking lot' 06/19/2026

Our local history should center the contributions of our community to our community and to the rest of humanity. A showcase of our values. So much that could have been preserved has been given up to things like car storage.

We love the library, but what literally paved the way for that location took a place of peace and history from the community. As the saying goes, 'automobiles have never been given space in cities and not asked for more'

Statuary Park: Rochester's example of 'pave paradise, put up a parking lot' Lost among the 1950s hubris were two 3,000-pound marble statues; one each of Lincoln and Washington.
